'24 MO WR Ryan Wingo (Texas commit)

Our best WR in the NFL right now is Josh Palmer. Our last 1st round pick at "WR" was Cordarrelle Patterson in 2013. Last true WR Robert Meachem in 2007. We are trending in the right direction but Bama, OSU, and LSU are still ahead of us right now
So only the first round picks count?

I would say Clemson is well ahead of us too

Over the last three years, we have had five wide receivers taken in first three rounds; more than any other school in the entire free universe.

Right?
All in the third correct? Palmer isn’t better than any of the guys Bama or LSU has put in recently. It’s just facts. It’s why it’s important to land guys like this regardless how well the O will run without top guys. Leacock is one. Think Thornton is too

Bama or LSU imo. I know people just be saying things, but we aren’t WRU after having two 3rd round draft picks.
Even with JMarr Chase and Jefferson at LSU.
Ohio State has been putting them in consistently high for like 20 years it seems.

But I like where UT is going.
We don't have to be WRU yet. Lets just keep averaging 45 a game with 550 total yards per, and I'm good.

Hell, I say keep an eye on our RBsthese next 4 years.😳. I think we have 3 NFL guys right now, and will recruit 2 more this cycle. Just my opinion.

Nah.
5 years ago? Absolutely.

They've been down at WR for about 5 years now. Tee Higgins and the former walkon is all they've really had.

UT is getting to where they will get 2 guys drafted every season.! That's pretty amazing...

Really hoping Tillman and Hyatt are able to ball out in the pros this year. They’re in good spots to earn early snaps, and it would do a ton to discredit those that knock our players as just products of the system.

Not necessarily. I think most people equate “anything U” to who has the best players at a position in the NFL. To AVR’s point, we don’t really have any good receivers in the league right now, but Tillman and Hyatt are about to change that. First round picks definitely help the case!

Agreed. Heupel maximized Hyatt and Tillman best he could and they landed 3rd round. Need to get the guys like Wingo and Matthews. First round locks under Heupel and then Tennessee could start turning some heads in the draft with high picks. That comes with getting that caliber of talent though. Something Tennessee is on the edge of doing in the 24’ class

Supposedly we are still in a good position.

And I hate to break it to ya but their schedule is a joke.

Their scout team could beat most of the teams on their schedule. It was weak last year and ridiculous this year. UT is the best team they play by a very wide margin.

I think Tillman is kinda buried in a run-heavy offense with a QB who still needs to get re-acclimated to NFL football. I hated his landing spot, to be honest. Amari Cooper, Elijah Moore, and Donovan Peoples-Jones are all ahead of him in the current pecking order. I guess it is possible he pushes DPJ for some snaps outside, but he's gonna have to earn it. Only having 3rd round draft capital isn't going to get him any favors.

Pre-draft, I liked Tillman's talent more than Hyatt's, but I certainly feel Hyatt landed in a better situation to make an early impact as the Giants leading returning WR is super-average.

But not for one that hasn't responded/retweeted this particular tweet. There's probably 1000 wrs and we're probably recruiting 15 of them. No reason to bump a thread with a generic tweet.

That's what the recruiting forum talk thread is for.
You’re okay.

Mike Williams, DeAndre Hopkins, Sammy Watkins, Amari Rodgers, and Hunter Renfrow too. We have a bunch of WR3s in the NFL. Hopkins, Williams, and Higgins are all either the first or second options on their team. Their worst WRs have had more success than our best in the league

Just trying to understand the criteria for the label. Having the best college WRs with the most yards in the toughest conference plus having the most drafted in three years is not it. It’s having the best in the NFL? TY for not being rude.

Wish I could remember if that was how it was before when we were considered WRU.
