Exactly. Right after we beat them we went to #3. Then later the CFP Committee put us at #1 and AP at #2. The only reason Texas is recruiting better is because instate location. The state of Texas has like ten 5*s. Plus we’re still way ahead of Texas in recruiting this cycle. They could pass us but we still got some dudes on our board and some potential flips

I think Tate was just legitimately torn between two choices that would both have been really good for him.

With Wingo (and this may be due more to the recruiting media than to him) it’s seems like a different school every week. Also, Tate’s recruitment was over in Spring, this one drags on.

It is the recruiting media. Wingo isn’t out there saying it’s a different school every week. They’re creating drama.

Has Tate even played in the first two games? I know he’s gone through a tragedy, so maybe he is redshirting this year while he deals with that. But just curious if he has seen the field.

Kelsey Pope checked in on coveted wide receiver Ryan Wingo last Friday night. The Vols have fallen back here some, with Texas and Missouri surging, but Wingo's timeline remains in flux. The longer this one goes, the more of a chance Tennessee has to get him to campus for an official visit later in the cycle. He will visit Texas again this weekend, and this will be a visit to keep an eye on.

Some tea leaves being dropped that he may have silently committed to Texas last night. Wingo is in Austin, last night On3 mod gave the equivalent of AP’s wink (not specific to any one recruit, but his signal that they got a silent) and then two CB’s came in from Texas 247 guys this morning.

If we are having a hard time getting him on campus but he has time to go to Texas we are definitely down the list.

I’ll be honest, if we can’t land this guy, I wish the staff would offer Witt Edwards. Probably one of the best overall athletes in the class. Kid is a WR from Oklahoma. Stud in wrestling and does some cowboy stuff too. 6’5 and huge catch radius. Tough as nails too. I don’t really have the knowledge of his competition level in HS but his natural abilities and toughness will jump out at you.
