Monken leaving UGA

Kirby has ran off more QBs than he has had for starters. New QB + Bobo = start the decline! I have said for 5 years Kirby is Brutus Fulmer Jr. And because he’s at his Alma Mater, will have a similar tenure….
need another comparison? Spurrier!
after they win it all, complacency at “your school” sets in and years 6-10+ are vastly different!

This will be fun to watch since Kirby doesn’t have his security blanket in Monken/Bennett anymore!!!
Frig Georgia bulldogs. Their fans are the absolute worst in the SEC.
They are the absolute worst. Worse than Bama and Florida now by far.

How was Monken elite? You ever think it’s the talent Monken had at UGA that made him look good? Look at Bono. He sucked at SC. Now he comes to UGA and he will look like a rockstar. Why? Because of an elite roster. Bobo is an average OC, but with UGAs talent he will look much better than he actually is.
I beg to differ, Georgia had elite talent in 2018 and 2019 and their offense was predictable and held them back now given they still beat us handily in 18 and 19 but they lost 5 games in those two seasons. Monken really made a huge difference for them on offense and got them over the hump and was a big factor in them repeating.

UGA was bad on offense in 2019 when James Coley was their OC. They were good on offense in 2018 with Jim Chaney, we were super stoked to hire Chaney away from them.

I think the difference with Monken is that he was more unpredictable and set up defenses very well. Bobo got similar results vs us but just out talented us. That was a dark stretch for UT regardless of Bobo or not.

More of a reflection of the state of Tennessee program than Bobo’s proficiency as an OC imo. I would be pissed if I were a Georgia fan.

...and Monken was better than Chaney and Coley. UGA fans weren't exactly torn up when Chaney left; they thought he threw the ball too much, which he probably did given how good their running game was.

Yeah, one of the real keys to being a good OC in my opinion is to be willing to be flexible depending on the talent we have. We already run a good bit, more than people realize and I think if we get some stud RB's Heupel won't be afraid to run more.

I don't give much credence to internet fan commentary. Georgia message boards have always been heavily populated by some prolific pretenders from other teams. They've had slim pickin's for trolling recently but they're coming out of the woodwork today.

I am sorry to see Monken leave. If it's working, continuity is a good thing; I said the same after Jim Chaney left too. But, Bobo had some good offenses at UGA before and he has a much better support staff this time. Also, Georgia's OL is in better shape right now than it ever was in Bobo's previous tenure. Losing Monken definitely adds questions about next season, but coaching and player turnover are the downsides of success.

I think what you said there is what has made Saban the best ever. His ability to adapt, overcome staff departures and players leaving for the League or transferring is second to no one. You guys should be in good shape due to your talent and a very manageable schedule, but I think it will be interesting to see how Kirby handles the ups and downs of success from now on.

Lol this is so dumb. Let me guess you often predicted Smart wouldn't have success at UGA? He's already accomplished more than Fulmer or Spurrire
