Monte is looking like a chump right now

Living in Arkansas, all I've heard is 2 things about Dexter McLuster... 1) Ole Miss fans complaining about the lack of touches by McCluster (until now obviously) and 2) Arkansas fans laughing at Houston Nutt for not getting McCluster more touches.
I think McCluster had a season high touches by a wide margin.

I will say that we should have been able to make a halftime adjustment to make Sneed beat us... but when a kid has a day like Saturday, you're just out of luck.

Not to mention we missed JJ's speed and hitting, Rico and EB had a lackluster day, and both of our lines looked like boys playing against men (with a few shining exceptions)...

He got a billion yards because guys were getting out of position, mainly the linebackers getting sealed off when they didn't recognize misdirection.

Their fault, and no... it didn't help being down to a 3rd string MLB in regards to that.

(and yes, a draw or counter is enough misdirection to get an inexperienced LB to commit to the wrong gap.)

Wildcat Formation? One guy gets the ball and runs it 90% of the time. The other 10% he hands it off on another running play. We haven't stop it all year. Alabama held Miss to 3 points. I don't care who the Defensive Coordinator is, if you know before the play starts who is getting the ball and they are not going to throw it, you have no excuses on defense PERIOD>
Everybody in the United States of America knew who was getting the ball and what he was going to do. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to scheme the D in this situation. I know we didn't have a true freshman at Safety but wait he is a true freshman and surely not the best player on the team. Quit making excuses, we got our lunch handed to us and the crow didn't taste good.

My question is where was All American Eric Berry? He was a non factor at SAFETY.

people talk bad about Fulmers recruiting classes, they when top 15 most every year.

that's the problem, its one thing if it was top 15 every year, but it wasn't. it was ALMOST every year. meaning there were some bad classes in there. regardless, TN shld be in the top 10 every year or right outside at 11 or 12. anything lower is sad

not the last few years and even his best classes have very few of the players left

#35 Class in 08... #23 in 06 - Current Seniors.

The 06 class should probably be rated much lower as we have one highly rated prospect who even contributes meaningful minutes in Jacques McClendon.

Look at this signing class...

Chad Cunningham - **
Dorian Davis - **
Walter Fisher - *****
Blake Garretson - ***
Justin Garrett - ***
Quinton Hancock - ***
Ramone Johnson - ****
Daniel Lincoln - **
Dustin Lindsey - ***
Jacques McClendon - ****
Darius Myers - ***
Chase Nelson - ***
Cody Pope - ***
Stephaun Raines - **
Jarrod Shaw - ***
Lee Smith - ***
Nick Stephens - ***
Luke Stocker - ***
Victor Thomas - ***
LaMarcus Thompson - ***
Brent Vinson - ****
Gerald Williams - ***

---------------------------------

The one good class(#3 in 2007), is even worse when it comes to an attrition rate around 30% last time I checked.

The 2005 class was good, but we don't have that many 5th year seniors.

Right now, we're playing with the same sort of talent as Ole Miss, South Carolina, and Arkansas... and half the depth thanks to a our inability to recruit and keep linemen.

Bump.

Look at how many people were defending the old fart after we got demolished by one player for Ole Miss.

However, now that he is at USC and Hawaii racked up 600 yards against his defense, now the consensus is that he sucks.

monte needs to hang it up and let little lane do it on his own. the old geezer's act doesn't work anymore.

And I would still defend him if I cared enough to argue about this.

Seems as though Monte is the best dc ever except against the spread. But that's why the spread was invinted. To eat up defenses. You can't run a normal defense against the spread. You have to change it up. Looks like in college where a lot of ppl run the spread Monte is just another old fart dc. Makes since. Of the 6 games we lost last year 4 ran a form of spread. Bama runs an nfl type offense which monte knows how to shut down. And we lost to ucla because of crompton. BUt their offense was shut down. Looks like Montes value as a dc is over inflated. Boy those Kiffins know how to fool ya don't they?

This crop of USC defenders has had a coach that's done pretty well defensively in the NFL and college struggle to stop teams with them. Now, they've had another guy with good credentials struggle (in one game, at least). Hmm.

the only reason people considered our season respectable is because of the way we played bama, which as said before, runs a pro style off. Monte def. Needs to reinvent himself and his style if he wants to catch up with the times

I agree. Clearly 90% of the colleges in the country are running a Hawaii-style offense.

It's absolutely hilarious to see all of the people getting pissed because someone said Monte couldn't handle the spread, and now this year they are saying Monte is awful.

It's funnier to see people claiming Ole Miss, Auburn, Florida, and Hawaii run the same offense.

The run and shoot that Hawaii implements is a totally different system than the spread that Florida uses. Florida's offense is closer to the single wing than it is to the run and shoot.

Ole Miss doesn't run the spread. Monte has only lost to 2 teams that run the spread since he came back to the college game.

BTW, McCluster had a field day against Corn Dog Chavis and LSU the week after the UT game. So it wasn't just Monte who didn't have an answer for him. Nutt was just an idiot for not using him more often before those games.
