Well, actually everyone runs a spread because 4 and 5 wide sets are spread offense. Have you ever heard of injuries. We are not deep at all. Our linebackers played like crap and i didn't hear prentiss waggner get his name called once. McCluster is a good player who had a great day. Our team was injured and deflated from this weeks issues. All of that equals lopsided Ole Miss win. Don't blame Monte, we all have sang his praises all year.

TN needs more speed at LB plain and simple. We were beat to the edges. Our D had problems overpursuing and were burnt several times on cutback runs. Not having Jackson hurt as well. The biggest reason we lost was the team played flat. They should have stayed on the bus. That is not Monte's fault. He will adjust and once CLK has his recruits in place, this D will be nasty.

monte can't go out on the field and tackle. He can just draw up a scheme and hopefully they can go execute. They didn't execute. I'm sure the distractions and the fact we have lost several of our starters on d didn't help matters.

I am a fan of Monte. I think he is energetic and a great coach, but I think he has a weakness in schemes against spread or spread hybrids.

Okay florida runs a spread, we pretty much stopped that train. Auburn could be classified as a spread, but it was their trick plays that were getting us, like that draw that Auburn and Ole Miss ran against us. Where the QB runs behind the RB and hands it off. USCjr was spread we stopped them no problem. UCLA not a spread, and Alabama not a spread. So, I dont think this is accurate.

Also the Tampa 2 was created to stop a spread-like offense. It was created to stop the rams back in the greatest show on turf days.

So please explain how we basically contain Alabamas normal O, and then when they put the wildcat in, they go for 8 yards a play?

It doesn't help that our linebackers are slower than Christmas and can't get off blocks. Only way to solve the problem is recruit better talent.

Phillip, is that you again? Seriously, you're not getting your job back.

No its not Phillip... it's just a fan that noticed the same thing yesterday that we have seen a few times this year. In the 2nd half we were just not able to keep up on defense.

Although we had plenty of opportunities to stay in the game and keep the momentum on our side....This loss is a tough one for us. I see us winning out and finishing out the season strong.

Wow, it's like some fans expected to go undefeated this year. We have obvious depth problems on the d-line, we're on our third mlb, our starting safety was suspended for being stupid, and last I heard, Walker was still playing with a bad back. None of those are excuses, but they certainly factor into what we saw. The simple truth is Monte doesn't have the personnel to run his defense. Yes they missed tackles and the players didn't have their best game, but how does that fall on Monte? Players play and coaches coach, the players were the ones missing tackles, not Monte.

Anyone calling Monte a chump needs to take a good, hard look in the mirror. That's where you'll find the real chump.

The plus side of all of this, there is no way any defensive recruit out there looks at this game and doesn't see a chance to contribute early.

I was really disappointed at how badly some of our defenders got blocked by Ole Miss WR's.

Also, all those three and outs on offense did not help our defense. We have a lack of depth on defense and being on the field that long really takes a toll

this LB group is the worst in the SEC.
Do you think??? That's what happens when you have multipy injuries at linebacker...like the point guard on a basketball team....Did you just figure that out? We actually are doing pretty good considering....

Monty is the most respected and most accomplished Defensive Coordinator in college football, you could probably add the NFL as well.

For the love of the VOLS, Stop creating these dumb threads about how CMK doesn't know how to scheme about spread offenses. We have 2nd and 3rd stringers starting due to injuries. Lets just say we got beat, and move on.

24 hour rule started after the horn when off yesterday, that means we have like 1 hour left to "female dog" and moan about this loss.
