More bad news for the Ducks of Oregon

Hopefully Hinder reverses that trend.

my money is on bridgeford (if he can stay healthy). hinder screams project to me.

It's okay, brother. There will be better days. I think.

i'm not betting on it. tedford clearly isn't the coaching genius many people thought he was. though our recruiting is showing signs of being top 10-15 every year now that the new facilities are being built which would obviously help (though tedford has wasted a lot of nfl talent over the years).

So make a change, when the timing's right. Don't let coaches be more important than the program. Tennessee is still recovering from that.

i'd love to, but he has an essential lifetime contract. his buyout is in the $10 mil range. hopefully in 2 or 3 years if the mediocrity continues his buyout will be a lot less and we'll make the right decision. edit: unfortunetly a good deal of the fanbase still has a case of "thank god we don't still suck and it's a miracle we are decent"-itis

I'll never understand why AD's throw some of the contracts they do at guys that aren't completely proven.

droski, isn't Tedford making between $3 and $4 million? That seems a little excessive compared to the results he's producing.

you have to remember we went from 1-10 to being 10 yards away from being undefeated in the span of 3 years. tedford was very hot. we felt we had to give him everything he wanted to get him to stay. obviously a mistake, but understandable.

with his base and all the incentives it's probably around $2.75 mil on average. compared to SEC salaries this is chicken feed, but yes a lot of money for 7 or 8 win seasons.

Tedford: $4 million incentive to succeed

With completely outlandish incentives it's worth $4.25mil and that's only in the last year of his contract. His base salary is something like $1.8mil/year (most of it being "talent fee" paid by Nike).

Hang in there. I can see you guys being in a great position to move up considering USC's problems.

exactly. he gets a big payout for staying hte length of the contract, but his base is pretty low.

The bulk of the incentives are tied into accomplishments such as BCSNC, minimum team GPA, COY, etc. Total contract completion payout (over the course of the entire contract through 2013) is a total of $3.5mil.

Though, to be fair, his base salary is equal to Dooley's.

Elaborate. You're horribly erong, but elaborate.

If he were a win-at-all-costs dumbass, wouldn't Masoli still be on the team? Would Kiko Alonso be suspended for the season? Art, say, Alabama or Florida, those 2 would both still be on the team. Masoli would be suspended for a game or two, and Alonso would have recieved a little slap on the wrist for his DUI. Be factual. How is he a win at all costs dumbass?

Just an FYI, that noise is a quick way to a suspention or a ban. Might want to curb that noise. :hi:

Outside of USC, which PAC-10 school is nationally relevant?

Since '04 only Cal (in '04) and Oregon have had a top 10 finish.

How is that nationally relevant?

You're looking at a very small timeframe in which USC dominated.

It's 6 years. How far back do you want to go? Which PAC-10 school is nationally relevant, other than SC, in the past 5 to 6 years? You (or one of your Duck friends) said Oregon was on the brink of a national title, yet have only finished in the top 10 once in that time frame.

We would have played for a national title in '08 had Dixon not torn his ACL. In 2002, we were screwed out of a shot at playing
in the title game despite being #2 in the country (we throttled Colorado in the Fiesta Bowl).

would of, should of, could of, DIDN'T

We should of played for the title in 2001 if we didn't have sorry coaching in the LSU game but we didn't.

It's different when a computer screws you over, versus a coach screwing you over.

When you have that one loss (or not even in Auburn's, Boise State's, and Utah's cases), it's all a crap shoot. We need a playoff structure of some sort.

So the "what if" and being screwed game is your evidence for being nationally relevant?

Being screwed 8 years ago does not make one nationally relevant in 2010.
