Christopher Columbus set sail to find new trading routes to Asia to avoid violent Muslims who dominated existing routes.

This is a thread about the celebration of Christopher Columbus. It's important to know about who/what you're celebrating.

So just providing some Columbus facts.

Gotcha, I figured it was just an avenue for you to criticize Muslims.

Why would you figure that I'm seeking to attack Muslims?

It's interesting, we still deal with similar issues today. Cargo ships avoiding terror prone areas, and altering shipping lanes to prevent run ins with Somali pirates, etc

We would have made it eventually, fleeing persecution and the like or it would have been a designated prison like Australia.

As a people probably, but I'm talking specifically. If those early explorers hadn't come over when they did it's very likely that our distant ancestors would have met/married/procreated with a completely different spouse. Which means that you and I would have never existed in the first place to even be having this discussion.

That sounds like the plot of a popular film.

Well that is the butterfly effect and can be said for any countless number of actions...don't see why it holds water for your specific argument.

Piracy has literally nothing to do with what we face in the Muslim world, today.
