Can we replace it with Amerigo Vespucci day?

Then the bankers and mail people won’t riot

How about Pismonque Day? Nobody knows who the hell was the first one here so why not some random schmo? And why not me? I happen to think this place is pretty damn cool, despite how much we're all trying to **** it up. Yes, I'm including you, Gentle Reader.

We know that Lief Eriksson was the first to discover North America (outside of the natives that crossed the Bering Strait and settled). The first non-native settlement is at L'Anse aux Meadows, Newfoundland, Canada. The Viking settlement dates back to the 11th Century AD, some 400 years prior to Columbus's arrival to the Americas.

You're right but I was actually referring to people in general so it would be some unheralded early wanderer. And for all we know, that person's name could have been Pismonque! So I maintain my claim to the name.

Fine, but only if it's spelled Piss Monk Day.
