Colorado has released an official statement about this
Colorado releases statement on Deion Sanders reportedly telling band to play Shedeur's song instead of fight song
Basically, this is true but it's only "a small snippet" of his song that plays before the traditional songs are played by the band.
"“This is not true,” the statement reads. “Nobody ever asked the band to refrain from playing the fight song. After a touchdown, the band plays “Glory, Glory, Colorado” and after a point after touchdown, the band plays “Fight CU” as has been standard practice for years. When Shedeur Sanders scores, the band will wait a moment a for a small snippet of Shedeur’s song to play before immediately kicking into “Glory, Glory, Colorado.”
There's at least one supposed parent of a Colorado band member on CFB saying that the press release is not true, and that the band was explicitly told not to play Glory Colorado after Shedeur Sanders touchdowns or Mata field goals, and could only play the fight song after the extra point.
Could be a fake account of course, but I'll be curious to see if anyone else in the band corroborates their version of the situation.
Regardless of how they've twisted the band - it's all pathetic. Not the band, I mean. The Colorado "leadership." The football staffers promoting it, too. They're a sorry lot of self-centered twits.
**EDIT** - Correction, the poster said they were the parent of a band member.
