Thats what Im thinkin...Him and Eric are buddies, But wont Burnett play WR? Or is he gonna play Safety?

From the looks of it, UT has been recruiting him as a safety. I'm not sure, but I don't think his services would be needed at WR.

Eric Berry, Kenny O'Neal and Gerald Jones will be our kick returners in some form or another. Maybe O'Neal with punt returns and Berry and Jones keep on KO's.

Yeah, he does. I'm not saying he doesn't have speed, but speed doesn't always translate into a good KO returner. Also, Maples doesn't have as much speed as Vinson or O'Neal... and I'd say G. Jones has a few steps on him as well.

Actually, Tyler Maples is faster than you think. He is faster than Lucas Taylor. He is probably right there with Gerald Jones, step for step. Now, Vinson and O'Neal are a step faster than any of the other recruits. But they have out of this world speed. I don't know if Maples can content with that group returning kicks, but he has a better chance than most of you think. He is better than you expect.

From what I've seen, Maples just seems like another Austin Rodgers, which isn't a bad thing. But Rodgers isn't going to overwhelm anyone with his athletic ability.

Why is it that white receivers are always compared to other white receivers?

Maples is like Austin Rogers...

Austin Rogers is like Wayne Chrebet, or Ricky Proehl

Jeff Samardjiza is like Drew Bennett, or Ed McAffrey..

I made a similar comment in an early thread about Maples. He is underestimated based on being white and playing the WR position. He is faster and more athletic than most people on here give him credit for. And, that opinion is based on him being white more than anything else.

I based my opinion on what I saw from watching the kid play, not what the color of his skin is.

Indeed, and he was very impressive. He will be a solid WR for UT. My only point is that he doesn't seem to be KO return material, or not so much as Vinson, O'Neal, or G. Jones are. That was my only point.

I'd say we would have a few players before Taylor. I know Ben Greene and Michael Frogg may be heading back to walkondom.
