Mosley should start at DT

I believe they have him as a OL player?? but I may be wrong

It has definitely been postulated that he might move to OL at some point. Obviously, wherever he helps the most is where he should be. I also believe that Owens will be on of our starters. There is no doubt, though, that there is plenty of potential PT available.

Don't know what film u r looking at. Mosley was mauling people in the one you linked.

He's "mauling" kids much smaller than he is. Sawyer and Robertson played against much better, bigger and stronger competition week to week in DII-AA.

Like I said, I hope he proves me wrong and is a 3-year starter in the d-line.

The LEO defense they play calls for a big run-stuffing, double team-occupying body at the right DT (1-tech) spot. They also need to be capable of at least a serviceable interior pass rush. I think Mosley probably redshirts this year in order to get him into shape and becomes a solid contributor on the DL in 2015.

I like a Maggitt, Williams, Saulsberry, J. Williams/Vereen combo. That's a very serviceable front 4 if they can stay healthy. Saulsberry probably ain't gonna command too many double-teams, but he can make up for it with improved interior pass rushing.

Looks something like this:

The critical piece is Saulsberry.

Yes, if we had Saulsberry, O Williams, O'Brien and J Williams all healthy, I think we might could pretty much just lean on those 4 for DT. Surely at least one of the freshmen would have to get into the rotation to spell them for a few snaps. But what do I know; I had thought that Carr was going to be a significant piece of the puzzle. :whistling:

Nice use of colors

They are just having a discussion. This is forum that is why they build it so people can have discussion about topics. It's fun actually.

Then the thread title should read, "Will Mosley start at DT?" The op is implying he knows whats best for the team when he probably doesn't have a clue, just like the rest of us.

Doesn't really matter who starts we need 5 or 6 good DT to rotate in and out thru the game. Then when we move to 4 DE on passing downs gives the 4 good DT even more rest.

When you look at all the talent we have at the DE and LB position, we're loaded this year. AT DT, not so much. On first and 2nd downs, I think we almost HAVE to start Mosley (next to Saulsberry).

Why? Because he's already a Behemoth, by SEC standards. We aren't going to ask him to run down players on the perimeter. That's what our DE's and LB's are for. You want our two biggest bodies clogging up the running lanes and keeping the OL off our LB's.

Obrien and Owen Williams aren't big enough to do that. Normally, we don't want to rely on freshmen, but I think we'll do so, our of sheer necessity. Will be interesting to see where Sawyers will wind up in the rotation.

Owen is 290lbs and the strongest dude on the team and has a non stop motor. Thats plenty for me. Mosley hasn't put on a helmet a UT. What do you mean start him?lol

Big Dan proved being 350lbs doesn't mean much if you disappear in every game and have no kind of motor while your out there.

After seeing Dobbs muscled up, I'm thinking he may be our next big weapon at NT.

O'Brian starts out slow and picks up late into the season. I think he has to burn off all of the beer and whiskey fuel storage first.

I really like Sawyers, Mosley and Robertson. These guys have been training since signing day so they should be in relatively good shape for Summer training.

Saulsberry is biggest concern. If he goes the Maggitt route....ouch that will be a blow. Moseley may go OT route if Blair JUCO Project stalls out. Otherwise, I expect him to be a DT. I think CBJ wants at least 8-10 high performing DTs for each game, especially overtime ones. J. Williams is relatively new to DT, so he could show some good improvement from Spring to Summer training.

What we don't know is who are the game day monsters...the guys who look average in practice but take it to another level during the game. Like Maggitt at NCST and Saulsberry last year before getting hurt.

Right now he is very out of shape. North of 375 lbs. he also needs to gain some strength. At this point I hope he works hard during a redshirt year, sticks it out and can contribute in 2015.

Have you see Robertson and Sawyers film compared to Mosley? Robertson just was quoted saying he is around 295 and Sawyers is over 300. Well let me help you out here! Lets look at some video.

Sawyers: MiKE SAWYERS JR YEAR - Michael Sawyers highlights

Robertson:
Jay Robertson Sr. Highlights - Jashon Robertson highlights

Now here is Mosley:
Charles Mosley's Highlights - Charles Mosley highlights

I hope i am wrong but unless Mosley has changed and comes in a very aggressive DT I don't see it.

Don't forget Barnett. He's a BMF!

There is a lot to learn. It is not just size and quickness alone; technique is important, and the Vols have not had great DT technique in quite some time. I hope the upper classmen come around to give the good young players some time to learn the position.

And some of you posters need to quit trying to pick fights on this board. Juvenile.

Mosley = Haynesworth (in college and without the attitude), IMO.

The funny part is Mosely pushed the line back every play and ur saying he needs to be more aggressive lol

Robertson will prob end up at guard because of his lateral quickness and footwork.

Sawyer tape was pretty good but its not like it was that much better than Moselys

I still think O. Williams starts

If Saulsberry comes back 100% healthy he will make A Lot of noise this year. He need to go really hard this summer in the weight room and getting those knees stronger.

If Owen Williams is able to get in shape and get stronger. His quickness alone will give O-lineman issues.

I think a combination of Saulsberry and Williams is one that could cause trouble at the DT position. Will off a nice blend of size and speed. Now the issue is who will be who will back them up. Right now I say Mixon and O'Brien are good canidates

CBJ already said Williams is probably the strongest player on the team
