I know there aren't a lot of tennis fans on here. And I know he may not be the greatest athlete out there. But still, it's becoming more apparent that Roger Federer is not just the most dominant tennis player (perhaps ever), but also the athlete who dominates his sport moreso than any other.

Jim Brown is still number one. Tiger is second. Jordan third. Lance Armstrong. Babe Ruth.

Fed has to do it for about two more years to get in there.

*edit... Pele should be in there, but I've no idea how to gauge where...

Tiger, Jordan, Gretsky, Armstrong - all equally dominate in my book. Federer is very close to being in the same league.

Yeah, I wasn't really thinking all-time yet, just in today's world. Though I think most of these guys are better all-around athletes than Federer, he dominates his competition as much if not more than these guys. Nadal is the only competitor to seriously contend in tennis.

Federer isn't very dominant on clay courts.

You're right, and that's one of 4 surfaces where he's vulnerable. But even so, he's reached the finals two years in a row there. I don't think Sampras ever reached the finals.

Federer wins 80% of his matches. Ridiculous.

Federer's competition does not come close, in depth, to say Tiger's...
