Most Memorable Game In Neyland Stadium

Being an older guy(Look at my birthdate ) one of my favorites was the 17-7 win over Alabama in 1914 at Waite Field(at 15th and Cumberland). It was a big step to help Tennessee to finish 9-0 and win the Southern Conference Title.

The 16-14 win over Boston College in 1964, because that was my first visit to Neyland Stadium.

It was still a horseshoe then, the end zone open to the Hill. It was also when I learned how to watch defense, specifically by focusing on DE (later All-American linebacker) Paul Naumoff.

A few years later, I got to watch Naumoff again--at the movie theater in "Paper Lion."

Steve Delong was that defense,he won the Outland trophy in 1964

1998 Florida. Loudest game from start to finish I have attended. I think it stayed loud because the defense kept responding. It was really special.

South Carolina 2007

Georgia 2009 ( Beatdown )

Seems like here lately the wins mean more.

If you had to take a stab at which game will be most memorable this upcoming season, which would you choose?

1971 Vanderbilt (1st)
1994 Washington State (Underated game)
1998 Arkansas and Florida(dramatic)

'09 Auburn. I surprised my twin brother and came up from my internship for the game. We lost, but it was awesome being there with him.

Runner Ups: Vandy 2011 and last year's Georgia game.
Boy do I feel for you if those were your 3 favorite. Understand some of it was for sentimental reasons, but what a shame that 2 losses and a narrow victory over Vandy were your best Neyland experiences. Makes me appreciate having been around for the "heyday", and also reinforces how far we have fallen. Hopefully butch gets us back there soon!!!

85 Auburn - first really huge win I actually remember seeing. Also made $40 selling cokes which was pretty good money for a kid my age

98 UF game is obvious

93 La Tech - seems minor compared to the above but that was my first game as a student.

--1985 Auburn game, 38-21, Bo quit
--1982 Alabama game, 35-28, Bear lost his last game in Neyland
--1990 Florida game, 45-3 Spurrier's first trip to Neyland as UF coach
--1999 Notre Dame game, 38-14. Beautiful night, Big Orange rout, electric crowd

Yes, I know Doug Dickey and his son both came back to The Hill and did some good things ... but I still consider him the highest form of scum and traitor.

LOVED Darryl, hated Doug as coach (traitor) but gosh, I'd love to have his ilk back as AD.

1998 vs Florida & Arkansas (I was a soph at UT) Student sections were crazy those games.

2006 vs Air Force (my wifes first game) and I got my comission to the Air Force from UT, Det 800!!

1985 vs. Vandy. We sealed the SEC Championship that day, and I got engaged to my wife in Section C row 15. Great time and I still get a winning feeling thinking about that game.

I was there, great day for the Sugar Vols. Sugar cubes everywhere.
