Former Harley loyalist here. The next bike will be a Honda Goldwing or BMW K 1600 GTL.

I watched a YouTube of a 70 year old man rip through the dragon on a goldwing. Sparks flying everywhere. He could ride

Trying to get him killed? :)

Way to much bike for a beginner. Hell any of the new 600cc sport bikes are too much. They will throttle up a wheelie. No clutch needed. I will say though. The sport bikes are much safer bikes.

Flame away.

I was being facetious. He'd be a splattering of ground chuck on the interstate.

The new ones will run 100+

The old ones did too. When I was stationed at Ft Stewart I would let my buddy sometimes use my car in exchange for his bike on the weekends. His girl lived in Savanah & he wanted something to take her out in. Me & few other guys would take off to savanah, tybee, statesboro etc & going up 119 it was pretty much a straight shot for about 20 miles. I had his 250 at 120+ & that was enough for me.

Don't encourage more Goldwing riders to come out to the dragon. They are on par if not worse than the Harley's and campers for not pulling over.

I would love to take my car down it. In the mean time though the pig trail will have to do.

Easy. I still have the claw marks from my wife from the last time I took her. I would be offended for someone to need me to pull over.

I'd rather have a 500 pound bike on me than a 1200 pound bike on me. The simple fact that if you can't make a corner on a big bike your screwed. Sport bike. Lean harder and give it fuel. It will make it. They do brake better and handle better. But like anything else " personal responsibility" when riding.

The part about cornering is accurate, but inexperienced riders are going to jam the brakes on a sport bike and won't make the corner anyway.

I don't know about the braking. I'd hesitate to just assume that without seeing testing. Your C.O.M. tends to be considerably higher on a sport bike.

Motorcycles have slightly worse braking than cars for the average rider.

All hanky-panky aside, that is the problem with most people who refuse to move over.

They are offended that someone would want to go faster than they are.

Nice generalization. I am 0% of your statement. The only HD gear I have are 3 tshirts. One from here, my hometown, and a tie dyed one I got in Honolulu.

I would have probably stated "Some Harley owners are the worst type of people." But you could say that about any type of group.

Sorry. Let's compromise.

Most Harley owners are the worst type of people.

It was interesting, I was reading a debate on another site about this. Many argue that due to quicker response time on a motorcycle they do stop quicker.

Perception/reaction time varies by rider, conditions, etc. That's a pointless argument. I was talking braking distance, not overall stopping distance.

Why would an alert rider have a quicker reaction time than an alert driver?

I understand that complety. That is why my next bike will be a Goldwing or BMW, bikes are ment to be ridden not for tooling around holding up traffic. Both handle like a dream and I'm too old for a true cafe style bike, plus I like to take the long rides.
