I'm not promoting it or would get it myself but its come a long way & isn't a bad looking bike for a 250. I'm sure the top speed is over 100. Probably 120-130 if I was guessing.

It's a 250. Who cares what it looks like? My car could outrun it to 100 easily. It's a great starter bike, and I'd never make fun of someone for starting out on a 250. But it would be stupid to buy the new model anyway, because you're gonna spend more than a few grand for a bike that you're going to want to dump in 3 or 4 months. If he got a 250, it should've been like a 90's 250 that can be had for ~$500.

I believe the new model 250 is geared for 114 mph. But those things lack power, so good luck hitting it. It's shameful for a "supersport" bike to not be able to hit redline in 6th gear due to wind resistance. You'd do well to exceed 100 mph.

Don't mind my comments about Harley owners. It was a generalization, but more often than not it's true. I had just dealt with a pack of stupid ones the day before, so I wasn't happy with them for the time being.
