Actually it is in the early season. The only reason UT was ranked above ALA was due to preseason rankings, which mean nothing once you have played games.
If thats how it worked Purdue or Arizona would be #1 and 2.

What it boils down to is people overreacting to UNC win. They weren’t the #1 team when they beat them. They would have been around 10 or so if they ranked them after every game due to the Iowa state loss, who was unranked.

Arkansas split 2 teams that were about equal and dropped. All without their best player.

Purdue looks like the best team in the country to me right now. But it is way too early to know.

No doubt they look the best right now.

Purdue

Arizona
Virg
Texas
Creighton
U-Conn

To me look like the 6 best. Simply based on who they have played and how they looked playing them.

Stop whining. Kansas lost to a ranked team on a neutral court. We got spanked by Colorado. COLORADO! So should Colorado be ranked above us? Head to head does not work in college basketball rankings.
You do know Colorado has lost 3 games. Yes, I’m sure you do.

Polls are ridiculous. I think we are at the right spot but for Kansas to be ahead of us is stooopid
I 100% agree We beat them easily on a neutral court and they are ranked four spots higher than us. I hate the polls way to much ignorance and stupidity involved by those who have a vote.

IMO making mountains out of molehills about Poll rankings this early on is simply Childs play. Frankly…it’s silly. To echo the ubiquitous chant the polls are unfair (especially after 7-8 games) is only “food for folder” on message boards. Oh wait…this IS a message board. Carry on!

So much for UNC being an elite win.

I was expecting maybe 10th, 7th is outstanding.
I think most voters are realizing they overreacted (big surprise 🙄) to the Colorado loss after surveying the landscape of college basketball and the innumerable other puzzling losses by ranked teams, and the fact Tennessee has smothered every other team they've played, defensively. A clearer picture is developing as we enter deeper into December.

Four of the five teams at positions 7-11 in the new AP Poll are SEC, and Kentucky is not one of them. The league is going to beat each other up unmercifully.

The good news is the SEC has performed fairly well in the non-conference schedule, so losses in conference won’t be as detrimental. The ACC is looking like a 2-4 bid league right now based on how they’ve performed so far. The SEC and Big 10 are the clear best conference as of today.
