They're all cliched and predictable, with the same cast of characters.

I could give you a pretty good blow by blow of 42 without having seen a preview.

Fair enough. But if you look at some of the more successful ones (Cinderella Man, Any Given Sunday, Friday Night Lights, Glory Road, etc) they are generally good movies. Every genre has its low budget crap like Blue Chips.
