In the movie "jawbreaker" from the nineties, there is an extra at the high school who is always wearing an orange #16 jersey. Pretty cool to see how popular Peyton was

Early in his career, David Keith was in a long made for TV movie called "The Golden Moment: An Olympic Love Story" with Stephanie Zimbalist. At the start of the movie, he was a Tennessee player who got injured and was told he could not play football again, so he took up the decathlon, and ended up going to the Olympics. Would like to see that again, but haven't seen any repeats.

Funny that a poster mentioned "Road Trip". The little Motel they stayed in GA is like 1 Mile from Eric/The Twins High School. It's an hourly rate despot type place...just for reference. They weren't do'in the South no favors in that Movie, regardless of any humor.

Not a movie, not Tennessee, and not football, so in essence, totally unrelated to this thread. But Mr. Belding had a picture of the UTC basketball team in his office. BAM! I just dropped some saved by bell knowledge on volnation.

SIAP...if memory serves he went to UT-C.

Not Tennessee football, but in Animal House, during the courtroom scene, there is a Tennessee state flag in the corner.

That movie was lightly based off of the University of Tennessee frats. I was told they couldnt get UT's approval to use the Univesities name.

I'm not saying you're incorrect, but I've never heard of that before.

It was filmed at Oregon. I recall reading once that for a long time after the movie, the provost that allowed the movie to be filmed greatly regretted the decision.

Animal House (film) | Oregon Encyclopedia - Oregon History and Culture

Over three decades ago the University of Oregon tried, unsuccessfully, to hide its participation in Animal House. Today, the film has become part of the culture of the University—a part of its brand. Movie locations are pointed out on campus tours, and Otis Day and the Knights' rendition of "Shout" is sung at Duck football games. People in Eugene and Cottage Grove take pride in having helped create a classic American comedy.

From IMDB:

"Although the film takes place in Pennsylvania, a Tennessee flag is shown in the courtroom. This is because the set decorator was unable to find a large enough Pennsylvania flag for the scene, and the blue Oregon state flag wouldn't work because it had "State of Oregon" text on the upper part. So the set decorator used the most generic flag he could find, which turned out to be the Tennessee state flag."

Not related to TN football but in the John Wayne movie Sands of Iwo Jima Smithville TN is mentioned. Also calls TN the volunteer state and the best state in the union.

Old reference I know but nice to have my hole in the wall hometown mentioned in a movie.
What does he mention about good old Smithville?

You ever heard this old song? It's called Smithville Jail

Dragnet. UCLA-Tennessee game.

Most Tom Hanks movies have a Tennessee reference

Cast Away, for instance.

Tom loves it in East Tennessee. Tom and I became fast friends while I was out west and he and Rita stay in my guest house when they come to visit twice a year.

Was the team that Forrest Gump returned the kickoff for a touchdown against and running through the band supposed to have been Tennessee? That team looked kind of similar.
