Movies you've seen recently II

Saturday Night was very good. Such a fun ride, non stop and the casting was miraculous.

Blink Twice is available on Prime. Great revenge/horror/comedy flick. Zoe Kravitz directed.

Saw Presence last night. Was a bit disappointed but i've definitely been thinking about it this morning which is always a good thing. It pulls off its unique take well but was not really the horror film it is billed as.

I watched it without knowing what the genre was going in and enjoyed the movie. Gave me the chills the whole next day for whatever reason

"Like a Complete Unknown" is fantastic. I really loved it. The moments in his early years selected for the storyline, the acting, the tight editing, the ambiance, the music.

I was expecting it to not live up to the man, the myth the legend but dammit did it win me over and quickly. Helluva movie.

Interstellar 7/10

I really like Christopher Nolan movies, so I don't know how I missed watching his 2014 film 'Interstellar' at the theater. I thought the 1st 2+ hours of it were some of Nolan's finest work. The action scenes were the quality I expect from his films, it was cast with several actors I like, and the dialog was believable. The story however, got a little "messy" the last 30 mins but it never totally fell apart. I'd definitely watch it again....the next time I have around 3 hours to kill.

The Last Rifleman. Very good movie....especially in light of the absolute garbage the unimaginative hollywood writers are shoveling out these days.

Maria. I really enjoyed it. The movie is about opera singer Maria Callas. Very well made. If you like biographical type stories, details like Parisian interiors, opera houses, period costumes. Especially if you like opera, but that’s not necessary. I think most people would appreciate the story, the psychological focus, and the twilight experience of a great with frequent (ambiguous) flashbacks to the glory years, and Maria’s quips. She’s a trip! Aristotle Onassis, JFK, and others in the mix. Great job of blending in original Callas footage.

The Gorge - 6.5/10. The plot started out strong but went downhill once they actually entered the Gorge. It also felt like the engine of the CGI was some old leftover Pirates of the Caribbean tech.

Was bored outside of my skull with no decent streaming options. Had watched Den of Thieves thinking it was pretty good.

Den of Thieves 2 would likely have Dolph Lundgren, Frank Stallone, and a Jean Claude cameo.

But no, Gerard Butler embraces this character. It was swift, and well written. Not trying to be a video game, no call backs or corny dialogue. Just a good movie. I was very surprised.
