I remember watching the movie thinking it was alright, nothing special. Then the end happened and I was like damn that was awesome. Lol
Yep, good ole Stephen King.
It was more Cohen Brothers than Stephen King. I know he kills a lot of kids in his books, but rarely does he do so so close to a happy ending. He usually saves the death before denouement for an adult protagonist.
Classic case of love/hate reaction to an ending. Lots of people laud the "gut punch" ending and others not so much. That's cinema for you.
I've seen all kinds of endings to movies but this one was just absurd. They had barely explored what was outside the town to pull the truck over and decide to do that of all things.
I actually like the first one. Not that it's good film-making, but it's good for what it set out to do, and it's niche. 2 is garbage. Never saw 3. I've seen parts of 4-7 but have never been able to sit through them. It's not really my style of action movie.
