Much-needed perspective on the current state of UT's program from an Oregon fan

I think this is the important point:

"CBJ is installing a system this year, results be damned. Rather than play to the strengths of a team he didn't build, he's making them play his chosen systems."

Maybe you win an extra game with an O tailored to your personnel -- but do you want that O? It would be hard for me to accept were I a Vol fan, but W/L just doesn't matter all that much this year.

There is, however, a threshold below which wins and losses do matter. It is rarely applicable and exceedingly painful for Tennessee fans to admit, but there are a lot of players on this roster who have never played in a bowl game. Achieving bowl eligibility under these circumstances would be tangible signs of progress, however modest. More importantly, it would be a boost to morale, both for the team and the fan base. Most importantly of all, it would give Butch three additional weeks of practice prior to spring practice to further install his system and develop this young roster. It would also be a benchmark that will resonate positively with the many recruits we are still pursuing.

Some of those "supposed" Vol Fans you refer to are the real deal...tried and true...bleed orange win or lose. Some of us damn near bled to death after the Oregon game.

I have a life for sale. Cheep.

Oregon, bammer, Florida, Georgia...doesn't matter who we are playing. My Vols will always be the best team on the field just because they are MY school.

Comprende?

Oy.
