Murray State, contender or pretender?

The first loss shouldn't really do very much damage to them seed-wise as of right now. It's the second loss that would.

I'd say a 4 or 5 seed if they win out (they would finish 31-1 counting the conference tournament). Depending on what happens in front of them, they could even steal a 3, but I highly doubt it. Still, wins over St. Mary's (Bracketbusters) and Memphis would look pretty good.

They only have 2 wins against top 50 rpi. So if they lose to St.Marys and don't win their conference tournament, I would not be surprised if they did not make the NCAAT.

They'd have to lose four to drop out of the field. They aren't dropping out with three losses, and if they did, most of us would agree it was a mistake.

I love how just because they've lost one game they're automatically on a downward slide to not making the tournament.

Vitale seems very excited about the game tonight. Big game for both teams, especially St. Mary's as they're coming off two straight losses.

By the way: http://www.collegehoopsnet.com/2012Mock.pdf

The committee themselves included Murray in the field as a 7 seed after losing their conference tournament in the official mock selection this week. Good try, though.

Unless Murray loses tonight, once more in the regular season, AND in the conference tournament, they're in.
