Muschamp hire....

its a bargain! and they could raise it later!

we outsmarted the gatas!
I like Golden as a coach but he isn't UF ready and he's never made his rounds in SEC. Muschamp was the heir to the biggest program in college and cut his teeth as DC at three SEC schools. Risky hire but so was Meyer, Fisher, Mark Richt
and Chiz.

Muschamp's a good, young up and coming coach. I think for the just below elite level teams, and I would put TN in that grouping, he would be great.
But right now, with FL's recent championship success and their recruiting advantages, FL is a top 5 job. They should have landed a more sure thing and a bigger name. I would rate the hire a C+ for Florida, and I'm actually happier we wound up with Dooley. I'll take his brains and discipline over Muschamp's cussing and bloody forehead.

with the talent of your fresh class, that is not nearly as telling as if/when he wins the SEC in 3+ years...He might turn out to be great, but just b/c he was the heir apparent at Texas doesn't mean he will be a good fit at UF. It's a risky move regardless of how you dice it. Not as risky as Chizik, Kiffin, or Dooley. Truth is, all of this is quite unprecedented simply b/c very rarely does a school find themselves in a position that florida is in.

I believe Stoops was the first choice...not sure why Foley has such a man crush on him but UF not looking at Petersen or Harbaugh was a no brainer imo. Foley wasn't going to bring anyone in with no SEC/southern ties or heading to NFL within 2 years.

look at my avy...smell it,smell it,smell it,now take it!

I think you picked a good choice to be your new HC. He is not the most well known of the various candidates, but he very well may be the best option available. Frankly, I would rather have him than Gruden, because his heart will be in it.

What kind of reactions are you hearing from the team??

Well... He's doing a good job keeping recruits and convincing others to delay their decisions... Pretty good start.

I could be wrong, but I cannot remember another time when all three coaches of "the big three" in Florida were new -- Jimbo is the elder statesman of the group by one year.

Of the three, I think Florida State came out on top -- we shall see.

I like you HG but this quote you sound like a typical gator fan. Just because he has talent doesn't mean he'll win ****. We don't even no who will be on his staff yet. Too funny.

Brantley transferring? If true this is sort of surprising and speaks to the amount of trouble surrounding that program right now.

Muschamp is one of the best defensive minds in college football, proven it in the SEC, and a known superb recruiter. Florida won't miss a beat in recruiting and their defense will be consistently elite. The key to the degree of his success will be OC-dependent, but don't underestimate Muschamp. Fans, like most Athletic Directors, tend to fall in love with style rather than resumes (see Leach staying unemployed), but Muschamp was a top-tier hire. We won't be favorites against them anytime soon.

What's too funny? MOST Vol fans saying he's a bad hire and will be Zook 2.0...without seeing the staff he puts together...they see him failing and I see him winning the SEC

What trouble? New coach new staff... players and fans are excited about this hire. Brantley is doing whats best for him. Funny three weeks ago everyone thought it was best for JB to find another program for his skill set...now its "the program is in trouble" because he's thinking of transferring. lol

It just makes no sense to me Brantley is a better fit for a Pro style offense. Muschamp plans to transition to a Pro style offense. Why is this kid jumping ship?

Are they excited that he doesn't even know what school he is coaching for? Muschamp said he thought Urban had done a great job as the coach at Georgia. :eek:lol:

UT,FSU and UGa fans are funning all wanted this guys as HC or DC over the last two season....guys isn't Urban or Zook he already told the player what he wants and expects and if not he'll help them find a better program....he'll be the best off the Saban tree.

Why would Brantley leave if Chomps are moving to a pro style,, This is Brantleys cup of tea. And for the uninformed, his family lives in Gainesville or Ocala and his dad played for the gators and his Uncle Scott was such a monster 'back in the day' that his number is up on the wall with Spurrier. It would be serious unhappiness for Brantley to leave.

Most believe that JB will return but a former teammate (HS/Gator walkon) posted that he's 50/50 atp mainly because he's spent 3+ years learning a offense and this season broken him down....JU would allowe him to rework his skill set with Kerwin Bell and address his self confidence.

Tennessee certainly didn't get their No. 1 guy, but I think Doolander is the right fit.

UF certainly didn't get their No. 1 guy either, and only time will tell how WM does. His staff will have a lot to do with it. It would raise red flags for me if he isn't allowed to clean house with a few exceptions.

And HG, I will gladly bet you anything you like on WM winning the SEC by his second year. Money, posting ban, sigs, avatar, all of the above, you pick. No way UF wins the SEC by 2012.

Sig or avatar is cool with me...I'll take that bet anyday.

okay. lets do avatars. it hurts more.

it's a bet.

terms: Will Muschamp as the HC of the Florida Gators must win the SEC Championship Game in either 2011 or 2012.

If he doesn't, I will provide an avatar for you for you to use until the following season begins.

If he does, you will provide an avatar for me to use until the start of the following season.

e-shake
