My God.... never thought Arkansas would out hire us

For any of you doubting Charlie Strong, and possibly thinking Bielema would be better, I invite you to stop in the recruiting thread sometime. Trust me, Strong is better for our school.

OP is catching the utfantilidie thread starting disease. Not fatal but it leaves some nasty sores

is it the Rose Bowls or the Conf. championships that give you that conclusion?

No, maybe you should do some research on his whining about Urban Meyer recruiting tactics and the "gentleman's agreement" in the big ten. Cant wait to see him get a taste of recruiting in the sec.

But they did. I would take Biliema (sp?) In a heartbeat over Gundy or Strong. Why couldn't we make a lateral hire? Why do we have to go to a lower tier program for our coach? Why not go after Kevin Sumlin or the guy from Oregon (Kelly?).

We can't get it right for nothing. :banghead2:

I think Bielema is a good coach with that being said.....

...He made a big deal about Urban doing shady things recruiting wise when he started at tOSU, saying something along the lines of this is not how they do things in B10. Dudes head is going to spin having to recruit against Saban, Richt, Miles, Muschamp, Spurrier and even Strong who has proven he can recruit the SEC.

Strong with the right staff will be the better coach. Visit rival boards and you will see that some actually preferred we got Gruden over Strong.

His record against Big 10 more favorable that Strong's in the Big East.

Marginally.

Strong has 62% in Big East. Bielema 66% in Big 10.

Strong's biggest problem is he hasn't been able to recruit kids to Louisville.

He won't have that problem at Tennessee.

You got to hand to Arky-that is a great hire for them. His record against Big 10 more favorable that Strong's in the Big East. You never know how any coach will perform at a new school, but Bielma has demonstrated for a good period of time that he can coach.

This he's got question marks too like ALL OF THESE CANDIDATES do but Arky made a good hire. Despite their delusional fanbase. The same can be said for UT.

Your right I sure do wish we had a coach that would call all the other sec coaches on being "too aggressive" now THAT is strategy that will work in this conference.

there was a thread about BB started last weekend and there were a lot of "he's 8-5 in a bad conference" comments. the only reason people want him now is it gives volnation another reason to cry

Watch this year's Penn State/Wisconsin game, and tell me that with a straight face.

The guy has simply reaped the benefits of Barry Alvarez, without any discernible ability to recruit the south, or any knowledge of it, for that matter.

Had he been hired away by another Big 10 school, I'd say it's a great hire. This is a disaster, with Arkansas going for a "name" rather than a "fit". See: Kiffin, Lane.

Strong will be a monster recruiter in the Sec, hes beeb doing it for 20 years, and big 10 guy crys when Meyer talks to his recruits.

Wow, you would think Arkansas hired Nick Saban. Remind me why the Bielema hire was a home run? Kevin Sumlin isn't leaving Texas A & M and Chip Kelly had one foot out the door to the NFL before coming back to Oregon.

You do realize we could NOT get Sumlin. We have fell to the bottom. No one fears us anymore they laugh instead. Be realistic here. I pray we will get back to where we were in the 90s but come on man.
