The trophy is supposed to go to the nations best football PLAYER. Lets keep that in mind......

Sam Bradford....great QB...no need to elaborate on that. Lets talk football PLAYER. Good athlete but in all fairness he probably could not play any other position at OU other than maybe slot receiver or maybe..and I stress MAYBE safety.

Colt McCoy...great QB...no need to elaborate. Lets talk football PLAYER. Good athlete also and like above, probably couldnt play any other spot other than slot and maybe defensive secondary.

Tim Tebow...great QB as well. Now lets talk football PLAYER. In my opinion...could DEFINITELY play other spots...several others. He could play fullback no sweat. He is a FB right now actually. Could he play tight end....without a second thought. How about linebacker? With proper coaching absolutely! Strong safety...thats a stretch but not impossible. Tebow has actually been spoken of in NFL circles as playing something OTHER than QB in the NFL. The two above players could never play anything other than QB in the league.

The bottom line is....the nations best football player.....I dont know who he is. But I know the best football player on that stage tonight, and it was Tim Tebow. Period.

My friend, NONE of the Heisman finalists there tonight are a Peyton Manning. None. My theory is based upon tonight and the candidates that were there.

I see your point, but I feal like it goes to the player that put up the best numbers within the year. Not what he could have done, but what he actually did do.

you can say the heistman has struck again, at least twice this year, once for berry now for tebow. but you know come jan 8th everone wills see tebow is the better of the two playing. too bad ut does not have ohio state on the menu to show berry is the man.

The Heisman is a joke anyway. Ever since the Heisman Heist of 97' i quit watching it. Giving the Thorpe Award to a less deserving player when clearly Berry should have won it hands down is furthermore proof that these award shows are a joke.

See how easy that is?

That seems like the most subjective thing I've ever heard. We're supposed to give the award to the guy we think could play other positions? Tim Tebow didn't play any of those positions. Neither did Bradford or McCoy. So to assume Tebow would be any better at those positions is being even more subjective than the current selection method. Furthermore, if Tebow is forced to play TE in the NFL and Bradford plays QB, I'd say that is further evidence that the voters made the correct decision. If Tebow can really play great, he'll find a way to play his best position in the league.

they won't ever get it right until they look at other position players instead of strictly rb's and qb's. either way the majority of the voting to me seems to be a popularity contest anyways. the heisman has become just as unimportant as all of the rest of the awards.

If what you said were true, Graham Harrell would have been in the thick of the Heisman race!

Whether a player could play different positions is not a key metric in the Heisman vote. The voters vote on performance at the position(s) the players in fact play, not some theoretical situation (i.e., Tebow playing LB, SS, TE). Who cares about what he could play? Tebow didn't deserve the Heisman this year.

If Bradford can throw for 300 yards and direct his team to 60+ points on Florida I'll change my mind....But for now, in my opinion, Tebow got hosed....

That's alot for me to say because I HATE the Gators....

Question...What did he do to lose it this year since he won it last season??

Didn't put up nearly as good numbers, while two other players far exceeded him.

Last year Tebow's argument was "LOOK AT THE STATS!!!"
and then it was a complete 180 this year
"DONT LOOK AT THE STATS HES SUCH A GREAT LEADER". I don't think you can just completely reverse field like that

I have posted with that screen name since 1998
Cool. I was on an ESPN board and another independent board for years with a username of Volmeister50. If you notice my location then we must be related through bizarro world quirks. :)
