My Player of the Game….

Aidoo was my player of the game. Gotta protect the rim. And he did big time.
Aidoo’s improvement this year has been tremendous. When he first arrived at UT, my initial thought was he would be a solid contributor by his senior year. I’m no NBA scout but imo, he is going to find a spot on a NBA roster once he graduates. Dude has turned into a beast.

This was just a great team win, the best of the season so far. Gainey, Aidoo, Vescovi, and ZZ were all terrific, JJJ played great defense and crashed the boards, and Knecht showed what a complete player he is, still getting 25 and playing great defense even though he was clearly not sharp offensively.

This group has a good chance at being the best team Barnes has had here, and they're getting better every game. The Vols have always been unselfish and played suffocating defense, but there's an explosiveness with this bunch that I can't recall seeing in any other CRB team here.
I was impressed that we limited the scoring droughts. I think Bama’s biggest run was 6-0 before we answered. Great to see!

I'm not saying he's not the greatest player, but Barnes in known for wearing his teams down into the ground, and when they get to the tournament, they flame out. Not to mention, in the world of the transfer portal, you need to keep your talented players content.
Known by whom? Casual fans that think the NCAA is the only thing that matters. Barnes also isn't going to play someone just to keep them happy

We need him. Him being hot or cold in the NCAAT could be the difference in an elite 8 or a round of 32 exit.
We’re probably a two seed… I don’t think a R32 exit is in the cards regardless. Ole miss is a projected 7 seed on cbs sports, so if we’re a two seed they’re a potential second round matchup.

But I’d say they him being hot or cold could be the difference in a sweet 16 exit of a final four run.

He has a soft shot. Good control. Only gonna get better.

He fouls when he gets beat. So frustrating to see that. Of course it is human nature but that is coached from middle school…don’t reach, get the next one!
His first foul was an obvious over the back where he was completely boxed out. They'll work with him on it because we're going to need him coming down the stretch

Knecht commands attention….and that is just as valuable.

Truth. The gravity of Knecht's mere presence on the floor is going to create open looks for everyone, and it was great to see him willing to get everyone involved yesterday, especially knowing he didn't have his 'A' game shooting-wise.

The primary difference between this Barnes team and those in the recent past is those shooting droughts that have killed us in tournament games aren't as likely to happen with this group as there are so many places to go for buckets, between DK's instant offense, the arrival of Aidoo as a legit post threat, and an array of guys that could get a hot hand at any moment.
