Y’all making this too hard. Buy a signed Kirby picture. Put your money where your mouth is.

Here's the problem with NIL and the people attempting to regulating them:

The #NIL group licensing biz is ripe for disruption.
Fanatics sells a replica college athlete jersey for $140.00
Athlete earns a 4% royalty rate ($5.60).
But wait!
Then, OneTeam takes its cut of 30% for organizing the group licensing deal.

The athlete is left with $3.92. Crazy.

That's why I want direct donation. NIL and the group licensing people and the NCAA end up with all the money.
The player?
Not so much.

I firmly believe that while Kirby may not be a star on the team, he is definitely the heart and soul of the team. Not only this year, but last year as well.

I still get a chill when he comes in to pitch as I can feel the electricity thru the tv screen.

I support NIL but it isn't the pot of gold for most players. I support University covering the cost of attendance for S-As. Who ever came up with a 11.7 scholarship limit for baseball need a swift kick where the sunshine don't shine.

NCAA has some very outdated precepts. Fans can fix that. You can voice your concerns to the appropriate UTK official. They should be taking the lead.

Days of the Benjamin handshake has really changed that much. However, when done in person it's hard to trace, do it on Venmo or another electronic means and it's there forever. Be smart. Don't come on VN saying you're doing or planning to do something that might put the player's eligibility in danger

I’m not opposed to NIL opportunities at all — I just think people wildly overestimate the amount of money that is out there for even tremendously talented college athletes.

College sports can’t and shouldn’t be like pro sports. There is a lot of money in college sports, but the general UT sports brand (e.g. generic Vols merch) and football revenues in particular have to subsidize a bunch of other sports. (And other than football (in which the NFL still draws more than twice as many eyeballs), TV ratings for pro sports are just a lot higher.) In football season, everybody wants all that money to go to football players, but it would be a real shame if UT sports was cut back to just football. Now, baseball may be a little different than some other sports — I’m not sure the numbers, but it does seem like baseball increasingly has the potential to maybe be a self-funding sport in the SEC (but only in the SEC), but I don’t know… the baseball budget has to be pretty big. But in general, I much prefer a robust college sports landscape to cutting it all back to only the few sports (football and basketball at power 5 schools, and maybe baseball/hockey at some schools) that actually make money. And then, of course, you still have to deal with Title IX.
