We could be visiting Mars right now, from that who knows what new technology we would discover/develop. So yes I do believe our lack of will and balls has prevented us from exploring.

With the rate of improvements in tech in the last 50 years compared to the improvements in the 2000+ years, it isnt out of the question to believe that we could be visiting Mars right now and well on our way to being able to realistically travel 1400 light years away with more funding and a clearer direction at NASA. I think this discovery could very well give us that "how far do we need to go" target that we have been asking ourselves. Dont think we will see it in my lifetime, but perhaps in our children's lifetimes.

LG is a good guy, misguided but a good contributor to the forun. There is a good group of posters here with varying viewpoints. The troublemakers that show up usually don't last long.

Oh, I agree. Just gotta give a gator fan some loving.

NASA: A very small asteroid will harmlessly impact Earth’s atmosphere in a few hours. Fireball expected off coast of northern Philippines.

What's the difference between a "small asteroid" and a meteorite?

3 foot/1 meter asteroid. Should burn up in significant fireball.

Not sure how large meteorites typically are but some pieces are found of significant size so I'm sure this size and larger are fairly common.

Just never seen advanced warning. Story I just read said this is only the 9th object we've found prior to collision with earth or atmosphere.
