National Average Price of Gasoline Hits an All-Time High

I am confused by the frustration here. The release was never meant to just be free oil handed to Americans. It was selling the oil on the market to increase supplies. It's dumb. Has little impact on price. But it's going to be sold on the open market
I believe they could direct its usage if they desired. America owns it after all. But to your point it’s wasted effort. And more importantly it’s a complete misuse of the reserve.

Boo hoo. It’s true that they may have to eat some profit dollars if the price of gasoline falls quickly. But they usually benefit when it falls gradually by being slower to give price back to the consumer.

On the flip side, most stations increased their prices to market while sitting on lower cost inventory while the prices shot up. They should have put some of that profit aside for the inevitable rainy day.

This is disingenuous. Most knew it was a matter of time before the left celebrates some price relief yet we are still much higher that what most can afford.
Most people can't afford gas? Could've fooled me. Traffic has been a bitch and the lines at Chic-fil-a and Pals definitely aren't any shorter.
