The outcome of this game depends heavily on the refs. If the refs let them play, WVU wins. If they get whistle-happy, Duke wins.
Yes, I think it's that simple.
The West Virginia-Duke winner won't have much problem Monday night.
I don't get all the love for WVA, maybe because it's against Duke, but I'm not impressed with WVA, I did have them in my final four bracket and actually final 2, but they are doing what it takes to get by. If Duke's shots go down, they win easily.
How on earth are you not impressed with WVU? They play as good of defense as anyone in the tournament. Explain your thinking here. If they don't get lazy at the end they blow out UK who was playing better than anyone in the tournament field.
3) Duke will NOT shoot 12% from 3pt range. Its not like WVU defended the 3pt shot very well. Kentucky flat out couldn't make anything.
Couple things here
1) They lost a starter and Kentucky didn't exploit that.
2) They beat a Kentucky team who shot the ball worse than they have all year.
3) Duke will NOT shoot 12% from 3pt range
1 - The backup PG used to start before he injured his shoulder and it lingered for most of the year.
2 - The WVU defense probably had nothing to do with this correct?
3 - I agree
Duke has played nobody that plays as hard as WVU.
Well Dan has made some good points, but WVA has just not impressed me, great win over Kentucky yes, but they looked sluggish in all of their games. If you don't hit your shots, you can easily be beat, which is what happened to Kentucky.
And I would greatly disagree with that. Purdue came on strong and defended Duke very well in the first half. If Purdue had Hummel in, there is no doubt in my mind there would have not been OT against Texas AM and they would have had a greater probability to beat Duke, probably pulled it out. You can't say Purdue didn't play as hard as that WVA team. Duke's shooting has not been great recently, if Duke continues that way of not being able to shoot, then WVA will win just like they did against Kentucky.
