The Scout
โIsaiah Campbell is one of the most athletic defensive linemen in the 2025 cycle. He just has outstanding play speed and twitch and first-step quickness. You see that show up on Friday nights with consistency. He is one of the top interior pass rushers in this cycle. He makes a ton of plays behind the line of scrimmage. Moves at a different speed than a lot of top defensive-line prospects. He has good length and a big frame. I think he has the frame to add a bunch more weight once he gets into the Tennessee strength and conditioning program. I think where he ends up from a size perspective might dictate how he will be used positionally. I think he is likely a best fit as a pass-rushing three technique that can create a lot of mismatches on passing downs and use his speed and quickness to shoot gaps and make plays beyond the line of scrimmage. I think the effort level is outstanding. You see him consistently show up and make plays. I think the physicality is there as well. A good bit of versatility. Could even see a scenario where he plays as a big defensive end at times. Big recruiting win for Tennessee. A guy that we have been high on the whole cycle and has been inside the top 50 the whole time.โโ On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power
What does Campbellโs commitment mean for Tennessee
This is a massive get for the Vols. They scraped and clawed in this recruitment for months after Campbell committed to Clemson, and while North Carolina made it interesting until firing Mack Brown, Tennessee was able to win out in the end.
Campbell has an immensely high ceiling with plenty of room to grow and develop in Tennesseeโs defensive line room. He gets after the quarterback and makes plays beyond the line of scrimmage and bolsters an already strong group in the 2025 class. His presence as a pass-rusher is something Tennessee can turn to for years to come most likely.
