You'll have to excuse me. I'm one of those who pretty much thinks Pruitt is infallible whenever it comes to the game of football and recruiting. Haven't felt this way about a coach...maybe ever...I wasn't alive to see The General. I bought into Pruitt whenever he was mentioned in Fulmer's top 3. Have believed from Day 1 he is the guy to get us to the SEC Championship and CFP.
Love the jab at UGA!
I think Dickey was fed up with CJM and was looking for an exit strategy. CPF was in the right place at the right time. Instead of CJM looking in the mirror as to why he got replaced, he chose to accuse CPF of orchestrating a coup to grab his job. I think Dickey was finding a new head coach and he offered the position to CPF. If CPF had turned it down out of some expectation of loyalty then someone else would have taken the job. CJM was out at that point. IMHOI think Phil put up with Johnny's personality better than most because he saw a future in doing that
I wouldn't be surprised if they were some office politics involved. I've never seen an office that did not have some.I think Dickey was fed up with CJM and was looking for an exit strategy. Majors was the reason Fulmer got to UT. If Phil did not learn anything from Majors in the 11 years he was an assistant under Majors then he is dumber than I thought. Majors did not put up with lazy coaches like Phil did. Majors would have fired his mother if she was the offensive coordinator and we were not scoring enough points.I respect your opinions Dog, but Majors went through assistants like my grandson goes through diapers, often and tends to shat on them. I don’t know who CPF considered his “mentors” but I’d bet CJM wouldn’t appear as a mentor on anyone’s list. He absolutely wouldn’t have offered any advice when CPF was new to the head coaching job
