Bob: So welcome back to Vol Calls here at the Texas Roadhouse. We are now joined by Tennessee All American offensive tackle David Sanders.
David: well, thank you Bob, first of all I want to thank you and then I want to thank whoever made this great chair I’m sitting in, it is truly wonderful and then I want to thank the person who cooked my steak tonight…
(20 minutes later)
Still David: And next I want to thank my wonderful server here tonight at the Texas Roadhouse and I also want to thank the person at the front door who held the door open for me when I came in…
(20 more minutes later)
Still David: And, I want to thank the construction company that built this fine building we are in…
Bob (interrupting): Sorry, to interrupt you David, but the show is over.
Still David: Oh, and I wanted to thank the Uber drive that drove me here…and, also…
.... now I'm wondering if we should move him to defensive end under Garner and make the next Reggie White lolSanders the starting left tackle for the Chargers, began their season Friday night with a 55-8 win over Trinity Christian School in Fayetteville, N.C.
He's on track to graduate in December and arrive at the school of his choice in January as an early enrollee.
Additional Game Observations
- 5-star offensive tackle David Sanders was excellent on the eve of his commitment. Sanders has added weight, but it's all muscle. He might be pushing 300 pounds, but most of that number seems to be muscle and bones. Sanders is remarkably resilient. He plays a bulk of Providence Day's snaps as an edge rusher on defense in addition to his efforts blocking Lott's blindside. He'll even drop back into coverage in the flats on certain defensive calls. Providence Day can now also send out Kendre Harrison to rush the passer, which he did to great success tonight. Opposing quarterbacks will have to face a 5-star coming from each edge spot when they play Providence Day.
- Providence Day's pass rush was a force independent of Sanders/Harrison's impact. The Chargers regularly forced Trinity Christian's Wake Forest commit Elijiah Oehlke outside of the pocket and sacked the passer ate least five different times. One of the sacks came from sophomore Griff Galloway, who was just ranked as the No. 46 sophomore prospect in the country by 247Sports.
