It sounds more like a Stage 5 virgin clinger. How does a second-rate clinger have enough sway to influence Sanders to sign or not sign if Sanders indeed wants to sign with Tennessee? If it isn't directly from him or his family, I just don't understand the level of influence of someone outside of that circle can have if it is directly against the will of the most important person involved; David, himself.
Just stop. He doesn’t need to be an instant impact player. Who is he gonna catch grief from? Whiny keyboard warriors on a message board? Give me a break. Ideally Sanders red shirts. It’s incredibly difficult to start as a true freshman in the OL in the SEC.If we do eventually sign Sanders, he better be an immediate impact player or he'll catch extra grief after all the drama of his late recruitment.
If the next 2 seasons he’s threatening to enter the portal in an attempt to modify his NIL deal then it will sure be a headache then. The 9th hour theatrics with his camp don’t instill confidence in his long term commitment. No wonder some veteran successful coaches keep getting out each season - I’d sure hate to be dealing with this every year.how is it a headdache if he's already signed?
Like I said. Unnecessary dramaI thought David has a great head on his shoulders. This unnecessary drama right before signing day proves that was false. I’m sure still a great kid but this is a small ding in how mature and put together he was for his age. Our coaches shouldn’t have to be wasting resources on keeping this guy when we have many others to try and land.
Before I incite panic, everything is apparently fine. This morning someone from his group gave us a “and one more thing” request (around timing of first NIL payment) that sent things into a spin. It was briefly an “if you don’t do it, he won’t sign” moment, but that fire was extinguished. It did not come from Sanders or his family, but someone who is a benefactor of some money. It’s getting hard to track what all these creeps do or why they are involved. Separately— The kid wants to be a part of the team event and that’ll in a way that allows him his moment, even though he already had one when he originally committed. All this torture aside, I’ve been assured it’s done. I assume it’ll leak out or be shared officially by Friday.
Luckily, you having confidence in Sanders’ long-term commitment to the Vols is 100% totally irrelevant. If the next 2 seasons he’s threatening to enter the portal in an attempt to modify his NIL deal then it will sure be a headache then. The 9th hour theatrics with his camp don’t instill confidence in his long term commitment.
