Why would Tennessee be screwed if Faizon is the next QB they got from high school to start?

I am just saying a what if scenario. Now things could always change. But unless they do, in 2026 we assume we will have GMac, Merk and Brandon as our scholarship QBs. Say Fazion wins the starting job. What if in this era, both GMac and Merk decide to enter the portal? How many scholarship QBs would that leave us with?

I just think it would be better if Brandon red shirted.

I get that but what happens if Brandon was to get hurt? I know it’s not likely to happen. But in this age of guys transferring for whatever reason they want. It would just make me nervous that GMac and Merk could bolt. We can’t go through the season with 1 scholarship QBs regardless of how great he is.

I don't get the worry. If Brandon is announced the starter it wouldnt be until after fall camp. Both QBs wouldn't immediately quit the team when the portal isn't open. Once the transfered we would bring in another recruit or a transfer backup.

I agree that Faizon should sit. But I think he has a chance to be the next high school QB land to start for Tennessee tbh
