Nothing he said in his reasoning is unture or unreasonable necessarily. They still have him as a 5 star. There's a reason people want him to sit for at least a year at the college level and it's not just the age. He doesn't do too much in Grimsley's offense and it is sustainable bc they always have a lot better rosters and coaching than their comp. I'd still take Faizon over Curtis personally but I can understand where he is coming from
Sorry to burst your bubble but no evaluator cares about high school stats unless they are badNOPE! If anything you need to go to a prorated calculation. Points and yards per minute or possession. Penalizing him for keeping the score down does not fly.
Now maybe you should not count stats for QB ONCE YOU LEAD BY 21. Rewarding guys for padding their stats late is garbage.
So when high school players are being evaluated, their good stats are irrelevant? So when Trevor Lawrence set the all time UGA state record for passing yards and passing TDs, that meant nothing to evaluators? When Derrick Henry rushing for over 12k yards and scoring 153 TDs meant nothing?Sorry to burst your bubble but no evaluator cares about high school stats unless they are bad

You cannot be serious.
They watch the tape not the box score. Derrick Henry and Trevor Lawrence tape is why they were 5-stars in addition to their physical profile not their stats. The stats were just a byproduct of their physical dominance. Sometimes non-dominant high school athletes can put up elite numbers due to either scheme or the fact they've got good skills but lack elite physical traits. Recruiters will typically ignore these prospects on the idea their skills won't translate. Most of the time the recruiters are correct. Every once and awhile they're wrong and a limited athlete who performed well in high school ends up translating that performance to college.
Absolutely! Our fans that expected him to come in and put up Hendon numbers his first season as a starter QB, were drinking the orange Kool aid. His crappy pass protection and drops definitely didn't help. But like you said, he needs to process plays faster and start hitting the deep passes at a better rate.I’d say he needs to improve on his processing speed and deep ball accuracy, in that order.
That said, you’re right. He was a first year starter. His processing speed is naturally going to get better in 2025 due to the fact that he’ll be a 2nd year starter. Expecting a first year starter to be able to read a coverage and process his reads at the same level that 24 year-old Hendon Hooker did in 2022 is ridiculous, but some expected that.
I think Nico will be fantastic next season.
Dude stats matter. Nobody can make me think otherwise. And their tape lined up with their stats. This is very easy. Most of the 5* recruits have monster stats. Tape and stats go hand in hand. They watch the tape not the box score. Derrick Henry and Trevor Lawrence tape is why they were 5-stars in addition to their physical profile not their stats. Derrick Henry was playing this forum in high school and was getting 58 carries in games. I mean they definitely notice but what good players are expected to produce. There's so many guys who put up insane stats that are lucky for D1 opportunities. Faizon's RB put up 3/4 of what Henry did on half the carries. He went D2 if I remember correctly. What was relevant about Derrick Henry is he was 6'3/240 and could run by anyone AND thru anyone. Trevor had elite size, arm talent, etc. High school stats are just something that look good for SIDs to put on their player profile bc they know fans like them, especially if they are in-state like a DeSean BishopSo when high school players are being evaluated, their good stats are irrelevant? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Jordan Ross the 5-star we signed last cycle didn't have good stats as a junior when we were recruiting him. I think his senior year was better but he had almost no sacks as a junior. He was a top recruit however because of his physical traits. And those physical traits finally started to manifest themselves his senior year after he committed to us.
I know you love stats but there are lots of top recruits each year who get recruited for their measurables and potential rather than their production. Recruiting and drafting are about projecting how good the player will be in the future moreso than about how good he is right now. Just look at Shemar Stewart at the NFL draft. He was a 5-star recruit in 2022 because of his physical tools. He spent 3 years at Texas A&M and got just 4.5 sacks. Despite that measly production he left early for the draft and was projected by some as a 1st round pick before the combine this week. He just destroyed the combine testing as arguably the most athletic defensive end in history. He's now guaranteed to go in the 1st round and most likely in the top 15 despite having only 4.5 sacks in 3 years as an edge rusher.
Stats don't get you drafted or recruited. It's your tape and physical traits that get you into major college football or the NFL.
He dropped bc when you don't so something and others do with similar measurable traits, you have more question marks. Faizon isn't asked to do a ton and that isn't necessarily a bad thing at all. But in a vacuum, a guy with the same traits that shows he can make the high leverage throws is going to move higher. I like Faizon better than Curtis as I've said. Have no opinion on Dia Bell kid. He's still a 5 star recruit and I expect him to end up one. I think everyone just kinda put him in that Nico level when they saw him go #1 in (I think) 247's rankings when in reality Nico was a generrational type prospect tools wise. Faizon is also a 2027 age wise so keep that in mind.Right, which is WHY dropping our guy for not
padding his stats in blowouts is being discussed.
I don't buy that. I think it's laziness in their partHe dropped bc when you don't so something and others do with similar measurable traits, you have more question marks. No, they don’t have him as a 5-star. They have him as a 4-star and the 34th overall player.Nothing he said in his reasoning is unture or unreasonable necessarily. They still have him as a 5 star. The On3 Industry Ranking has him as a 5-star, as Rivals, ESPN, and 247 all have him rated sixth overall or higher.
No they don’t, not really.Dude stats matter. Nobody can make me think otherwise. And their tape lined up with their stats. This is very easy. Most of the 5* recruits have monster stats. Tape and stats go hand in hand.
Yeah keep telling yourself that. You think Brandon and Curtis would stilll be ranked as high as they are without their stats? Nope sorry it doesn’t work that way. Are state the end all? Not in the slightest. No they don’t, not really.
Players get evaluated, projected, and ultimately selected, based on Tools. Not stats.
It’s clear from this erroneous diatribe that you have no idea what you’re talking about.Yeah keep telling yourself that. You think Brandon and Curtis would stilll be ranked as high as they are without their stats? Nope sorry it doesn’t work that way. Are state the end all? Not in the slightest.
But say Heupel is evaluating two QBs. Both are great players. One of them has won multiple state championships and has insane stats. While the other is just as good but doesn’t have near that stats. Which one is he taking? Yeah he is really gonna say hey let’s take the guy who hasn’t proven it on the field.
You think Derrick Henry breaking the all time HS rushing record had nothing to do with his ranking? Come on.
