I think this gets overlooked a lot. It’s almost like people expected Nico to be an even better version of Hendon. Hendon’s success happened so rapidly under Heupel’s system I don’t think HH gets enough credit for how good he really was, and how many plays he made. I do think that Nico will make a big jump this season and that the game will slow down for him. There were several instances where if he hits a deep ball it changes the entire dynamic of the game. Teams have adjusted to us and try to keep 2 safeties deep, so Nico needs to be more efficient when those deep shots are available . I think he will be .I’d say he needs to improve on his processing speed and deep ball accuracy, in that order.
That said, you’re right. He was a first year starter. His processing speed is naturally going to get better in 2025 due to the fact that he’ll be a 2nd year starter. Expecting a first year starter to be able to read a coverage and process his reads at the same level that 24 year-old Hendon Hooker did in 2022 is ridiculous, but some expected that.
I think Nico will be fantastic next season.
I e always found it weird that anyone cares where a recruits thread is on the VN list of threads. Committed kids are generally less talked about because there isn't much news to share. So unless you just want a bunch of cheerleading posts talking about how great Faizon Brandon is from a bunch of people who really don't know and have an obvious bias, then his thread and those of other commits are likely to drop behind others. Frankly, seeing threads like his getting bumped usually concerns me. No news is good news for these committed kids. It’s weird this thread keeps falling and Keys stays at the top. Keys didn’t choose the be a vol. I care a lot more about a guy that knows he want to be here.
thats all that is happening in the Key's and other non-UT committed kid's threads. everyone is talking up keys as the best thing since the forward pass was invented.I e always found it weird that anyone cares where a recruits thread is on the VN list of threads. Because there is still hope we land those guys. It's the principle of wanting what you don't have.thats all that is happening in the Key's and other non-UT committed kid's threads. everyone is talking up keys as the best thing since the forward pass was invented.
go to any of the threads of kids we "coulda" "shoulda" "woulda" had. and they are all All World once in a generation must haves that any real coach would have gotten.
