You're right, they are built nothing alike :rolleyes::rolleyes:

I think it's perfect fair to question the level of competition of CBS - or whether he is a product of the unique Wake system with the delayed mesh - but in terms of running style and build he is very similar to Tiyon.
They're short and both run upright, that's where the similarities end

As far as depth goes. He’s okay but
Mannnn.

If you told me as a young Vol fan, after seeing Aaron Hayden, James Stewart, Charlie Garner, Jamal Lewis, Travis Henry, Travis Stephens, Gerald Ruggs, Arian Foster, Montario Hardesty, John Kelly, & Alvin Kamara That I’d see a day where Tennessee is scraping under rocks to find Running back talent, I would have ripped off my shirt and sprintet out the building throwing up peace signs like Antonio Brown

Cedric Houston is offended at his omission from this list!

In fairness this is what happens when previous staff strikes out so much on elite running backs and corners running back recruits. I think Justin Williams is a kid that we end up really excited about watching for years to come but you need another veteran back that can get tough yards

Oooo I love The Williams kid. I think he joins the list of memorable RBs

Need defensive players. The two elite backs in the portal are already committed elsewhere. We have enough pedestrian backs on the roster. I would
Rather have pedestrian defensive players fill
Holes because they would be better than what we have.

Apparently the staff feels we need another RB. We cannot fix this team with one class. It’s gonna take 2-3 to get to where we need to be.

I never said he was. Tiyon was my favorite back we had. Go back and re-read my post.

All I was saying is that tiyon didn't start all season as long as small was healthy.

Gotcha. I don't know if that was coincidental (i.e., Tiyon also being banged up when Small happened to be healthy) or not. Regardless, I guess we'd both love a Tiyon Evans-level back next season (minus the injuries and lack of concern for academics).

Probably was due to the fact that one of them bought in and did everything the coaches asked of him and the other one was lazy and entitled.

Our RBs were banged up all season, which is pretty normal and regular for most teams. I think having more RBs is better.

We don't need running backs and receivers in the portal. If we have 7 spots we need 4Dbs and 3 linebackers

We absolutely need running backs. Look what happened anytime Small and Evans were out. Big plays and consistency went away. We can’t risk running into situations relying on Wright in short yardage critical down or he or a freshman in critical pass protection downs. We really need a veteran that can get tough yards on short yardage and can pass protect. We need one veteran WR as well to make up for Payton. We have slot/Velus covered with Hyatt and Callaway. We need another guy in the Payton role that can hit the over top play or take a screen to the house

When it comes to this guy from Wake, he played a full season as an upper-classman, and true-sophomore Jabari Small had better numbers than him across the board.

Small had:

(1) more yards - 792 vs. 604;
(2) better ypc - 5.7 vs. 4.6;
(3) more TD's - 9 vs. 7;
(4) more receiving yards on the same number of catches.

I just don't see this guy being some game breaker.

We don’t need a game breaker. We need an tough hard nosed kid. Small has shown his ability to break big plays. He needs breaks though. Wright can break a big play. The two new freshman looks capable as well. We need a mature back to go with it.

So having another experienced back that’s similar and can play for 22 season is a bad thing? Especially as much as Small gets banged up?

If we're going to take a back in the portal, I would rather it be someone (a) who has upside that we don't presently have on the roster, or (b) has more than one year to play. This transfer qualifies as an initial counter, so you lose that scholarship from this recruiting class if you take him. Using that on a one year stop gap, when the RB position was in no way our biggest weakness, just doesn't seem like the most advantageous move.

The staff wants to take another back, so it may be this guy, and if he's the best they can find then go for it. I just don't think he's Tiyon Evans or Jabari Small good.

We actually need to attack the perimeter more and to do some counters with two back sets. That would open up the middle more. Just like that last play if you fake to a Whitehead and run the option with Small as a second back there’s no way possible for Purdue to defend it and we walk in whether it’s Hooker or Small as the pitch back. We have 1 returning productive receiver. We need 1 receiver that can impact day 1. My other six go to 2 DL, 2LB. 2DB.. we need depth on the line as well.

We need a lot.
I think we need a QB. Some sophomore QB that's been playing a little.
