NCAA considering to make freshman ineligible (BB)

I disagree regarding football. Nobody is ready for the NFL right out of high school, yet you'd have some kids who have 5* talent with the awful ego, a family in need of financial assistance, or worse...both.

Basketball is the only major American sport where, right out of high school, you are ALMOST ready to be pro. Baseball, thanks to its extensive minor league system, can handle high schoolers. Going to the NFL right out of high school would ruin a kid's opportunity at a real career.

If this were ten years ago, I'd agree.

Nowadays with kids getting bigger and stronger at the ages they are? You might have 2 or 3 a year that could go straight to the NFL with the current market. Clowney could've. He wouldn't have been a 1st rounder, but he would've signed a team and been a backup for a year or two, if not a starter on a terrible team.

I mean, look at Khalil Mckenzie. He benched 225lbs 29 times. That would put him tied for 6th for O lineman at today's combine. Or, for a more recent comparison, its 6 more times than Iowa's senior outland trophy winner. And he's run a faster forty than most of them.

Kids these days are becoming athletic freaks like we've never seen before, and its only going to keep getting worse as medicine and sports science keep getting better.

Saw them discussng Slive's comments yesterday on Finebaum. If the Big 10 and the Pac 12 want to exclude freshmen, fine with me. Makes recruiting that much easier.

They acknowledge that they won't test it on their own...it'll be a slaughter! :aggressive:
