Purdue's Hazell is toast. 1 Big Ten win in 3 yrs - likely going 1-11 this year. He makes Derek Dooley look like a rousing success at UT.

Houston Nutt said He's interested in the UCF head coaching job. If I were UCF i would interview Gene Chizik and Al Golden

I'd interview Randy Shannon (now at UF) before Nutt, Chizik, or Golden. Shannon knows the Florida area very well, especially Miami.

Now is not the time for UCF to fool around. It looks like USF's Taggart is starting to rebuild the USF program and he will recruit the Bay area very well in the future. My prediction is that either USF or UCF will eventually get invited into a bigger conference (Big-12) but not both. Until this year, UCF had a big lead in that race but now it looks like even.

Fuente at USCe or w (Don't think he goes west coast) or at Miami would be a pretty big step up for him. Fuuente at Miami would be terrifying for the ACC, but him at USCe would be equally so in a year or two for the SEC east. The SEC would just become even more cannibalistic because that would give you, barring something drastic happening to Fuente's coaching acumen or the other three teams, UF/UGA/UT/USCe that could feasibly win the east year in and year out.

If I was UCF I'd go get PJ Fleck and call it a day.

according to some WM fans, nobody loves Fleck more than Fleck :) they think he is too big of a self promoter.

Western Michigan football coach P.J. Fleck, girlfriend announce engagement | MLive.com

I don't really care about his personal life, my thing with him is that he loves the spotlight. Everything about him screams "hey, look at me". He has become the face of Bronco Football as opposed to the student athlete. Print media for other Bronco sports features the players... Usually seniors... Not football... All PJ. Just look at the billboards and all media, his face is the first one you see. Somehow, I doubt this is the marketing departments decision. When I've heard him speak, he doesn't acknowledge his staff. It is all about him. Scholarships are offered all the time to players and have been for years, usually privately in a locker room or in a families living room...PJ films everything and plasters it all over social media inadvertently letting everyone know what a great guy he is. Just my personal opinion and observation.

Bowling Green is probably going to be 10-2 with losses only to us and undefeated Memphis...Johnson is incredible and will probably get a look in the NFL..does Babers get an offer this year?

I'd think it'd be UCF before USF, but thats just me. UCF has ones of the largest enrollments IIRC.

According to footballrumormill.com Bill Snyder is going to retire as Coach of Kansas State at the end of the season.Western Kentucky Head Coach Jeff Brohm would be a good candidate for the KSU job

I think he can land a better job than Kansas State.

I'm going to go ahead and throw out the names of a few coaches who will be receiving calls from any smart AD without a head coach.

1 Kyle whittingham
1a Justin Fuente (along with a great def. coord)
2 Pat Fitzgerald Nwestern HC
3 Mark Dantonio
4 DJ Durkin (mich def coord)- it's HIS defense dominating at Florida btw. Probably get a "sexy" OC too if ya hire Durkin.
5 Tom Herman

Co worker (played at UCF) told me he's hearing UCF plans to hire Bowling Green's AD. AD might want to bring Babers along. Just a thought.

Pat Fitzgerald likes coaching his alma mater and will probably never leave unless fired.

Whittingham would be my first, second, and third choices..I know USCw would be interested in him...he talked about it the other day and was surprisingly honest..he wants to win a NC but he also said that his whole family lives near him and he loves the area(mentioned love of skiing) so I don't know if he will take it if offered

He's put Western Michigan on the map. Nuff said. Were you complaining about Kiffin
grandstanding in Knoxville? And I havent heard any criticism of the guy. Just internet fodder.

Bill Cubit did a good job at Western Michigan before Fleck took over. Had a winning record win he was fired. Fleck didn't put them on the map.

Beamer leaves next year . He has always tried to get the battle at Bristol done and finally did . That school owes him that game at least

That school's athletic department owes him for pretty much building their program, both team and brand. He got them not only regularly going to bowls (5 bowl games before he arrived, 22 bowls since then) but going to levels of bowls they had never even seen (Orange Bowls, Sugar Bowls, even a National Championship game appearance). The school only had one season of 10 or more wins before 1993; they had 13 seasons of such since.

That said, the last few years seem to indicate he's in the twilight of his career. They gave him a two-year extension (in August of 2014) - making his contract which ran through 2017 now run through January 2019 - mainly as a show to ending any speculation at the time about the school possibly letting him go.

But that gesture was right after a 7-6 and 8-5 season. They've since gone 7-6 and are currently sitting at 3-5.
