NCAA reaction to Burns throat slash [Fake]

Richard G West might be the best troll account on Twitter because I have never seen one account spread disinformation as widely as he is able to do. Like, everyone falls for it! How have people not learned that this is a troll account by now? It’s incredible.
Laughed when I saw the name. I played baseball with a Richard West in East Tennessee from Little League all the way through high school. Hopefully this is a “different “ Richard West.

I have seen the “ throat slash “ more and more in college
athletics lately. I have not seen ANYONE punished for it.
It was once taboo. Not so much anymore.

It makes no sense. The problem is actual media picking it up without verifying it, as apparently someone on Sirius radio did.

Well, at the risk of starting a heated conversation, this is just a further indictment on the state of local and national media in 2023 where the need to be “first” on a topic or to generate content for your talk show reduces, if not eliminates, any type of journalistic standards. Thirty seconds of reviewing the RGW feed would show he is a troll. Just like 30 seconds of reviewing the feed of the Arkansas troll RE: Evan Russell tweet last year would have done the same thing but that was apparently too much work.

Richard “Dick” G. West I believe is local. By googling his name today, I found the source for numerous rumors we’ve dealt with this past weekend. Dude is a total asshat
He’s a Tennessee fan, he just gets off on fooling our rivals into believing our end is nigh

Automatic unsportsmanlike conduct penalty in Football NFL and College. Baseball who knows but it is a jesture that shouldn't be allowed in sports of any type

But drives the relatively gullible and unknowing out there to spew rumors. And here is part of “out there”. I have zero tolerance for that type of misinformation. Onionesque satire, sure, but I don’t believe that is his intention. He thought it was hilarious that the USM information desk had to release a statement, clarifying the status of the game following the suspension of Game One.

I guess the discussion itself is good just to help increase awareness. I read it on the interwebz. It must be true.

For clarification, did Burns do this gesture on the field or in the dugout? Seems to me that the rules now are “what’s done in the dugout stays in the dugout.”

I looked at the feed. He definitely did a throat slash gesture about halfway back. It was so fast that it is hard to see, but the camera had him on closeup when he did it. I don't feel that gesture in the heat of the moment at that time is definitely understandable. Maybe should try not to do it, but I can see no issue with the way he did it.

Only thing I know is Football calls an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for the jesture

Walking into the dugout with his back to the other team. Don't you guys remember the fabulous 7th inning?

And let's don't everyone get prissy. He took down their best hitters with two men on, throwing 102 mph smoke. Metaphorically, he did just what the gesture indicated.

To be honest, if there wasn't a closeup shot of him, I doubt anyone would have even noticed it at all. I don't think they would penalized. If they didn't penalize last year for the flying double bird, they won't penalize for this.

I swear its because they (and I say they because its a group of guys that run the account I believe), randomly change the profile picture to some different vaguely reporter-ish looking guy every so often.
