NCAA Tournament Thread: SEC Edition

Bad bad year for the sec

@KendallRogersD1: Not only will the #SEC not get a team to the CWS Championship Series, the league will finish the postseason with a 19-17 record. Pretty bad.

Oh and I hate the ballpark

I have said before and will say again.....it's baseball.

You play this tournament all over again and you get a different result.

You have to have a really good team and you have to hope your team gets sprinkled with a little postseason magic.

Florida's last 5 losses at the CWS are by a single run.

Completely agree. Too many variables in the game of baseball that can swing a game one way or the other. Easy to predict a winner on paper...but as they say, "that's why you play the game". In my opinion, that's what makes this game the greatest of them all!!

O'Sullivan and UF are bordering on choking at this point. I won't discount the 5 trips to Omaha and how hard it is to win but he has to get over the hump sometime before he becomes Mike Martin of the SEC.

The young position guys may find their bats next year but he'll be without the pitching staff. Great pitching and defense can win games but only if you get on the scoreboard yourself.

I know you play the game for championships and fans say nothing else matters, blah, blah, blah. However, if your season ends in Omaha (even if it's 2 and Q), you had a great season. You have to win a lot of "BIG GAMES" to get there and the experience of just playing in a CWS means a lot to the individual players and will for the rest of their lives.

Fans (many who never played above LL) can lament about how the team "choked" because they didn't win the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP." Meanwhile, the players earned the right to be there and made memories that will stay with them forever........and good for them.

Not a Gator fan but if they have been to the CWS 5 times recently. That's a good program. It's not like it's easy to just get there.

I agree except he's lost in the regional rounds as a national seed as well. I'd imagine the players and O'Sullivan consider this year a "failure" as well. They had the deepest and most talented pitching rotation in CBB this season and some argue in the history of college baseball. To go 0-2 with that talent is underachieving. The thing that gets me is the tightness they play with when they get there. They brought in Sneed and Puk in the Coastal game to face one batter each in a matchup scenario. They both beamed guys with the first pitch. These are all-American level guys who not only failed to execute the plan, they put the team in a worse situation.

The ballpark in Omaha lessens the need for a great pitching staff. If you limit the walks and play good defense the pitching is automatically going to be better because of how the park plays. Saw a stat yesterday that showed Florida's last five losses in Omaha are all by one run and by a combined score of 16-11.

BTW, I know Florida is losing some talent this year but yesterday their lineup including the starting pitcher featured eight freshman or sophomores.

Coastal Carolina survives and all the national seeds are out..they still would have to sweep TCU to make it to the championship series though

CC and Texas Tech broke your bank last night!

Lol

Last night was the best chance for an over in the entire tourney. 2 good offenses with suspect pitching

Even last night wasn't a real high scoring game and it was a terrible game for pitchers throwing strikes

Tcu homers to end the shutout vs Costal Carolina.

4-1 in bottom 8th.
In a must win game CC is playing like a Boss.

Arizona and Coastal Carolina each win must win games...tomorrow the same matchups for a trip to the championship series
