NCAA Tourney Running Thread

Agreed, Bill. Nothing wrong with the rule. The problem is the players not knowing it.

Great game ruined by an awful officiating decision. Of course.

Mostly, they need to change that rule.

No, the refs got it right for once this time. Irish player entered the 3 point arc before the ball hit the rim. That was easy to call.

I guess what makes me mad is that you see more egregious lane violations than that but they're never called unless it's the last minute of the game. Either be consistent or change the rule.

and KU's game ends.

65-50 KU wins

....I'm not sure I'm as big a fan of the "separate channels" as I was last year.

If only because they can't switch off to parts of others until the game they're showing is completely over.

(though it still clearly has advantages: namely not locked by region)

Ive got 22 teams still standing. My final 4 is still there. My Elite 8 is still all alive. 14 of my Sweet 16 still standing.

Oy. :good!:

Those used to never be called intentional and now it's like the refs look to call a flagrant or intentional foul.

a foul like that before the ball is thrown in was usually intentional. The new rules do make it easier to call though

Agreed on that. They are too damn subjective to what they want to call at different points in the game.

I like college basketball but it'll never be better than college football to me because the refs have too much control over the outcome of the game. As long as there are Teddy Valentine's that live for everyone to see him T someone then it'll always come second place to football.

No, Charles Barkley, the disgrace is you saying the ref should ignore an obvious black and white call. What if the shot had missed and the player who committed the violation had grabbed the rebound? The violation occurred before the shot went in. You can't hold your whistle until you see if the shot goes in.

Also, the intentional foul had to be called.

I am usually against whistles at the end of the game, but these calls were obvious and had to be made. Both violations, had they been ignored, could have impacted the game. You can't let a player clearly break the rules and potentially grab a game-winning rebound and putback. And, you can't let a player save precious seconds on the clock by grabbing a jersey before the ball is even thrown in.

Give me a break, Charles. That was among his worst moments on the set ever.

Yeah, they are trying to get a call without time coming off the clock, without looking like they are trying to get a call without time coming off the clock.

I like the change, takes the interpretation out of it. (keeps the refs from screwing it up)

I've seen much worse at the end of games 30-35 years ago and it hardly ever got called. They are putting more emphasis on the flagrant/intentional calls now more than ever.

blatantly grabbing a jersey before the ball is in play should be intentional. I can't disagree with the call

and they just showed the viewing party footage from Norfolk St on the local news. That was good stuff to watch

I didn't disagree with it. I just think there is more of an emphasis on calling flagrant/intentional fouls now more than ever.

I also think the refs should be able to review any play within the last 1-2 minutes of the game.

Anyone else feel the need to pull for the SEC to show the committee they screwed up not putting 5 SEC teams in the tournament?
