Nebraska Series Cancelled

If they are going to do a home and home with another P4 school these are the only ones with openings

Boston College
Florida State (plays Bama in 26 and UGA in 27, very unlikely)
Pitt
Stanford
TCU
Notre Dame
USC (has 1 non conference game open in 27 but that probably will be Notre Dame)
Washington
I say call up Notre dame. It’s been a while since we played them. If I remember correctly the last time we played them is when Eric ainge got his collarbone broken on a Hail Mary right before the half. Some of my 1st memories of UT football are watching them go against Rocket Ismail and losing on a late kick return for a td, and then the miracle at south bend comeback. Both programs are rolling right now so it would be a huge game with national implications.

To be it wasn't all that long ago Tennessee canceled a series with North Carolina for some frivolous reason. Tennessee was good enough to win both games but so was North Carolina and it made Vols fans upset because Athletic department ducked NC in our minds. So we can't throw too much shade at Nebraska although we were looking forward to it.

Nebraska can’t pay for stadium renovations on less than 8 home games in a season?! Yeah…that’s 1000% bs! Especially given the TV money they get from the Big Ten (among other revenue sources).

Hmm. One has to reason that decision - in part or in whole - came from the BIG. Stadium reduction? Really? It's gonna sell out.
Thamel sorta seems to be twisting this - not a first by him.
What the NU AD has said is that they need 8 home games with the reduced capacity because of the revenue drop. Which isn’t to say they had no other reason to back out of playing in Neyland.

That was the 2004 game. We played them the following season in South Bend.

How much did they get for the spring game? I'm guessing $700k for the gate - not sure how much tor radio and local TV.

We used to have a series with Notre Dame and UCLA quite often, there were some great games in the 80’s and 90’s. We have also played Washington and Washington St along with Pitt in the majors era. We used to be known as the team that would play anywhere against anybody. GBO

This is becoming the norm for UT. Schedule a big name and the series getting canceled a couple of years before it happens. Then play a OVC or Sunbelt team in its place. What are the odds the Washington series ever happens?

You not been reading all the updates? Not UT CALL AT ALL. Those NEGA genes can cause great embarrassment.

We went up there in 2005 (Ainge was hurt in 2004) and they hammered us, 41-21. That was last time they played. I've been to every ND / UT game except 79 when I was away for work. Been to South Bend all 4 times UT went.

SOS means absolutely nothing these days. Pay a school that needs the money, that fans will travel to, and secure a couple easy dubs. Hawaii anyone?
