You are making wild excuses for Butch - since when was our team that year we beat Cincy a great SEC team? :lolabove:

Talent wise to Cincy we were a great team, and had we had a have way decent coach we would have won 7-8 games that year. We had a top 25 defense in the country, and two of the best young SEC WR. No coach can win when their team is out manned in every position, so if you don't like Butch I promise you can leave and no one will mind.

I think Kiffins class has what, 3-4 left on the team?

Effectively, Kiffin took a year off from recruiting. If you are doing a good job recruiting, each year you should 8-10 solid seniors on the roster. With the exception of our O line how many do we have this year??

So you are saying Dooley was a great recruiter and coach (top 25 defense and all that talent). But wait,
in other posts you are saying we do not have any talent so we could not beat UF?
Please make up your mind :loco:

1. I did not realize liking Butch (or any other coach) was a prerequisite to be on this forum.

2. I did not realize you speak for everyone on this forum and have been authorized to advise people to leave when you don't like their opinions (so I plan to stick around until I see something more official giving you this powers).

That's just it - we don't lack talent as much as we are told (maybe some more depth). It is just a very common excuse fans are willing to fall for when they get excited about the new coaching staffs (ie. your old staff sucked so new staff needs a clean start etc - nonsense). But of course new coaching staffs (everywhere not just at UT) love to see this attitude as it probably buys them another year or two where they don't have to do sol great. But when you look our last 3 years where we finished in recruiting it's definitely not the case we lack talent (and it's not like after Kiffin left when his whole class either left, or got thrown out for various disciplinary reasons).

This could not be further from the truth. It's not where the class was ranked but rather how they pan out. And ours have not panned very well. Read further in this tread and the board to see where kid guns class is. Doesn't exists

I didn't realize Dooley was the defensive coord in 2011.

Typical response - anything that went wrong with the Vols over the last 3 years was Dooley's fault, but when people point out things that actually worked well you dismiss it as if Dooley had nothing to do with that (as if he had nothing to do with hiring Wilcox and does not get any credit for that, while at the same time you are more than happy to thrash him for hiring Sal after Wilcox left).
