There’s a place called Between, GA. It’s unincorporated and on either side of a stretch of state highway in between two towns. Rumors are that it gained its moniker due to an animal carcass left on the roadway for an interminable time. The location of the offending carcass was between Loganville and Monroe. After innumerable references, locals took to calling their area Between. It stuck. They have their own road signs on state route 10.
