Needing prayers.

My mom just messaged me, her cousin passed away from a heart attack. She said his family was really having a hard time, and mom was always close to him and his sister. They could use a prayer.
All my best wishes and prayers for Jesus to wrap his healing arms her and her family and comfort them with His promise of everlasting life.

So my dad went to have his eye looked at this morning that he had surgery on awhile back and they dilated his eye and said everything looks normal it's just going to take longer to heal. Then back home today he was taking his mom to the bathroom and all the sudden it went black and he can't see so they called the eye doctor and went back and he looked drained some fluid out of his eye and told them he could have had a stroke to call his primary care doctor tomorrow and he also said he may wake up and be able to see that the eye is weird. Now I am like what's the chance the eye they look at today he can't see out of now and everything he done is fine and it could be a mini stroke or blockage our nothing.

Okay, if there’s signs of a stroke, there’s only a small window to work with here if so. I don’t understand waiting until tomorrow to call the PCP then. Did I miss something?

The nurse said he could go to emergency room but he would sit there for hours to get in and they told him he should be okay to wait and go see his heart doctor tomorrow. My dad didn't want to go to the emergency room 😕

Praying @

He had heart surgery and it gave him Parkinson. He had eye surgery and now he is blind. I think he is tired of getting messed with.

And there is no sign of stroke the eye doctor said it could be a mini stroke and since he has had heart surgery that he recommended him to go to see him to be safe then he said he may wake up and see. The eye doctor said eyes are funny. What's crazy is everything looked good this morning he said just give it time to heal and he would be able to see better. Comes home 2 hours later he can't see out of it.

It could be what they call an "ocular stroke", where blood supply to the eye (but not the brain) is cut off. If so, that's classic crap explanation from a physician who can't be bothered to understand how his (or her) words could be misinterpreted by patients and their families. If that's so, it's not a "stroke" as we think of it - acute loss of blood supply to a part of the brain, due to either a clot or to hemorrhage. But it can result in permanent vision loss in the affected eye.

I was really looking for you and Exie to see what you think. And I believe I know what you think you would have him at the hospital. I just looked and the right eye it reacts to light the left it is bigger about the size of a marker if just I little smaller. When I took the lite away he could see how many fingers I had up after that he couldn't. And I don't know if I could after being blinded but he sees nothing out his left eye.

How big (=serious) is your local hospital? Erlanger probably has an ophthalmologist on call who would actually come in. Many hospitals would just have a guy on the phone who still wouldn’t come in until the morning, and there you’d be, stuck in the ED all night on those horrible little chairs.

^^^^ This is if his ONLY symptoms are visual.

If he has any numbness or clumsiness on one side of his body, or trouble speaking clearly or understanding, or headache, or balance issues, or lopsided face (only one side of his mouth goes up when he tries to smile), go NOW. These would be worrisome for brain involvement.

I’m too rusty on ocular events to remember what (if anything) might be done emergently for an ocular stroke. There are other (unrelated) things like a detached retina where they would immobilize his head and apply an eye shield, etc., but that’s different from an acute blood flow issue.
