He was 77 yrs old and found in one of the trucks. Sadly many volunteer depts around here and around the country can't get younger people to volunteer these days and these older guys that have served their community for years keep on doing it and tragic events like this happen......

Update: The Terre Haute Firefighter who passed away on the scene of a residential fire on Thursday evening has been identified.
According to a post by the Supporting Heroes organization and confirmed with Glen Hall, David Phelps of the Prairieton Fire Department was found on the scene and has reportedly died of a heart attack.
Phelps has served as a firefighter for over 59 years and was named the
2023 Indiana Volunteer Firefighter of the Year by the Indiana Volunteer Firefighters Association.
Phleps is survived by his wife and two children, one of whom is a firefighter with the Terre Haute Fire Department.
