Tennessee basketball player Emmanuel Negedu passed out during a workout Monday at Neyland-Thompson Sports Complex and was transported by ambulance to University of Tennessee Medical Center, according to University of Tennessee Police Department Capt. Keith Lambert.
He was conscious and alert when transported, Lambert said.
The incident occured during a strength and conditioning workout inside the Neyland Thompson Sports Complext after 3pm this afternoon.
Apparently, Negadu passed out and EMT was called to the scene. When he left in an ambulance he was conscious and responsive to medical personnel.
He has been transported to the hospital, non-emergency where he will undergo a full battery of testing to see what caused the incident.
Tennessee will likely release something later, but first they are trying to contact his adoptive family and alert them to what has happened and what is going on.
Negadu's teammates and coaches have gone to be with him at the hospital I am told.
If he had defib on the court they wouldn't transport without lights and siren...no way.
If he seemed better and coded at the hospital then this makes sense, but then it would not work with the "reports seem positive" stuff.
I am praying for him, and hoping for some real news.
I said No Way as the subject of my post. My run on sentence was confusing, thanks for clarifying. I have done litigation regarding ambulances, and there is no chance a guy defibs and they transport the way that poster suggested.
According to the GVX article he ws awake even when the ambulance got there. Obviously I hope he is alright, especially since he is one of the hardest workers on the team. But on another note, sounds like Pearl is serious when he says he is going to work harder this season on defensive pressure and conditioning if players are passing out already.
first i hope emmanuel is ok second i believe where he didnt start playing basketball till in prep school by the time he is a junior and senior he will be a very good basketball player because he can shoot free throws real good for the time he has played and he is stong as an ox and can jump very high and quick ,and he will learn to play more under control and will be a star on the team in a year or so he sort of reminds me of charles barkley except he is in much better shape ,if his out side shot comes along he will be a small power foward or a huge small foward he will learn to pump when among the tall trees and slam against guys his height, because they will be very few players on court as stong as he is im excieted about how he will play when he has another year of play and another offseason he will put up very good numbers and with kenny hall and hopefully scotty and mcrae, golden, tatum, and hopefully tobias harris at the position that tyler is currently playing tennessee will be around the top of the sec for the next few years until a few more recruiting classes come in and hopefully bruce will keep us heading on the right track
