Nerlin Noel's & ShabaZz Muhammad thread...

I agree Teague's decision is now very interesting. The closest incoming they have to a pg is Archie Goodwin which isn't his natural position. The closest they have coming back (if Teague leaves) is Twany Beckham (who barely saw the floor).

Wrong.

Ryan harrow is a transfer who sat out last year and will play this year.

Former PG 5* top 25 player.

2010 class: 3 five stars, 3 four stars, 3 top 10 players
2012 class: 3 five stars, 1 four star, 1 top 15 player
Well, Kanter never played a minute at Kentucky, so that's one of those five stars. Poole also did nothing, and Vargas was one of the most overrated prospects I've ever seen. Jones, Knight, and Lamb is a good trio, but I think that Noel, Goodwin, and Poythress is better. Also, while Harrow isn't officially in this year's recruiting class, he effectively is.

Maybe all around ok, but still 2010 has 2 top 10 guys, while 2012 has 1 top 15. The big time prospects that make UK So hard to beat aren't there this year, besides Noel's.

The other guys are damn good, but they aren't the typical NBA draft if not for the rule guys, if that makes sense.

Poythress, Goodwin, and Harrow definitely are possible lottery picks. Considering that the highest-rated player in Knight's class never even played a minute of college basketball, I would say this class is head and shoulders above the 2010 class. JMO.

If Bennett commits, which it appears that he will, then this class will be head and shoulders. As it stands now, I would say it is slightly better if you include harrow.

But they wouldn't be drafted lottery out of high school is what I'm saying. Davis MKG wall cousin knight all these guys it was widely known hey if they could go now are lottery picks, but they had to go to school.

The only person you can say that about RIGHT NOW with UKs class is Noels.

Also, I wasn't including harrow since he was brought in last year. If you're counting him for this year then ok it's much closer than I'm saying.

Knight is the only one from the 2010 class that you mentioned...

Poythress would be a lottery pick out of high school, and Noel is the early favorite for the #1 overall pick in 2013. Knight was a borderline Top 10 pick. How are the classes even close?

Harrow, Poythress, Noel, Cauly, Goodwin is a pretty good class compared to any of Cals. Imo, it's much better than 2010, when Knight wasnt really a top 10 , and a couple were overrated. Noel and Poythress will both be lottery locks imo.

I was counting kanter, but you're not and I'm not gonna argue UK athletics haha.

As I said even not counting harrow, and not courting kanter:

2010: 2 five stars, 3 four stars, 2 top 10 HS recruits

2012: 3 five stars, 1 four stars, 1 top 15 HS recruit

To me it's pretty obvious by looking at that which class is better. 2 players on the top 10 is huge, and really is MUCH better than 1 in the top 15. Now if you're looking at it as after the fact that well this guy didn't pan out blah blah blah ok, but from before they played a game I think right now the 2012 class is more impressive. After they play I completely a different subject, I'm talking before either class had played.

Once again I'm not counting harrow, as technically he's last years class. And also once again, I'm not going of of after the fact of them playing and you're saying they're overrated. I'm going by before they played and their specific rankings, that's it.

Depends on which site you are looking at.

Noel, Poythress, Goodwin all top 15 on Rivals.

I personally think this class is better than 2010.

Scout is much more known for basketball, as rivals is known for football, so I go by scout.

As I've said, if you're including harrow then ok I see it, but not including harrow I don't think it is. Jmo

Why wouldn't you include Harrow? You have to imagine Cal got Harrow thinking about 2013 (when he can start playing).

Because he was brought in last year, I get he didn't play, but he was brought in last year not this year.

As I said I admit if you're including harrow then this class is as good or probably better(if not including kanter) than the 2010 class.

I wouldn't consider a player who wasn't allowed to play part of the class/team, etc. Kanter, Harrow both fit in that category.

Poole can hardly be considered because he rarely played and obviously didn't fit in well having to take a backseat to the others. If I remember correctly, he was one of our first recruits and highly talked about...must have been frustrating for him not getting to play.

As I said, like with Poole, if you're looking at classes after the fact then sure it changes. But hey Noels my snap his leg and still go pro, poythress may drop out, and Cauley may go to jail for murder. My point, if you're gonna judge the 2010 class AFTER they've played, you have to do the same with the 2012 class.

That's not what I'm doing, I'm going strictly off those specific signing day recruiting classes. If you do that Poole is a 4*, amd not a bust, and kanter is a top 5 player. I'm not going by on court success, simply recruiting class rankings.

As I've said, if you're including harrow, and no kanter, then yes this class is better. My whole original point still remaining, it doesn't compare to those scary classes that produced scary good teams. This class is good, but not unbeatable.

No class is unbeatable. And of course we can't judge teams before we see them. It may turn out that this team gels together and has an incredible year. Or they could suck and have a sub-par year for Cal. Lots of talent, hard to predict. But looking back, if you had looked closely at the rosters, it was obvious Poole wasn't going to play much.

I don't know last years class scared me at the time, plus with Jones returning and millers progression they looked scary on paper. As of now, this team, not so much. As I've said, they'll be damn good im sure, but they don't scare me.

Poole could've played if he was good enough, simply put he wasn't, and had attitude problems iirc.

I admit, Lamb/Jones/Miller really helped UK with experience. Wjiter won't come close to equaling any of them.
